Seems like big shows are getting announced earlier and earlier.  Tool announced June Europe arena shows a month ago and I'm expecting they'll announce US shows as soon as all these festival announcements are done.
If Pearl Jam is touring in the spring or summer, I think we are in the announcement window.

Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

i was really hoping for an eddie solo european tour with 2 shows in lisbon during the summer...or at least one in a festival
Last solo eu tour was announced in February.
And we had plenty of rumours and heads up before then too. There is nothing right now aside from a couple of festival rumours that always pop up and are usually false. Hope I am wrong but as of right now there is nothing concrete planned for the band or for EV solo either.

All signs point to them recording. A new album will mean shows. It'll happen soon enough.

You're thinking they will go back to touring in October? That really is the wild card right now to be honest. If they do not then I think it is going to be a slower year then expected obviously. Of course this all depends on what is going on with the album as well.

I just don’t see them going 3 years in a row without a proper North America tour.... especially with a new album.  Even if they announced something next week, it would be for April at the earliest, and for the 2016 tour we had 2 months worth of solid rumors

We pick vacation the first week of January. I get 2 weeks off in the summer which I think will be in August. The other 6 weeks are going to be a mix of September, October, November, and December (Christmas week). Sounds like a lot of time off but still going to be hard to hit the right time with no rumours to go off of.

Luckily for me, my vacation resets July 1st.  But I've already booked other trips and written off January- June for this year.  Hoping I can get lucky in the fall with a tour.

lmao. Nah just work shift work and get 18 days off which then gives me 14 days off in a row when I take a full set off.

I think any tour dates will be driven by whichever festival PJ decides to play.  Not 100% sure but it seems like they announce a festival or ball park shows and then a short tour. Id guess EV tour in the spring (which makes sense based on the announced date), some festival summer or fall and then a few PJ dates.  IF they play at all.

You are probably right but it's terrible that a band that spends such few days on the road would waste their effort in front of festival non fans forced to endure 5 hours of horrific mosh pit conditions. Plus they could make a ton more money playing arenas with closer to market value tickets. Plus there is nothing more special than a packed Pearl Jam arena.

Some of us are around Ed n Mike's age, for them to expect fans their age to mosh like that, combined with the limited touring and PJs restricted ticket regulations, that horse just keeps getting more flies.

Metallica has an interesting approach with a similar age demographic.   How about some in the round shows?   You get to triple the number of GA’s and nobody in the place is far from the stage.   Totally different experience, and would be an amazing experiment for them.   I volunteer Detroit’s Little Caesar’s Arena for a trial.

I have not seen a mosh pit at a PJ show in ages. Festival or otherwise. Of course arenas are preferable.  I just don't understand why so many people do not want to go to a festival or ball park show. Music festivals and the ball park shows are a blast. You are there for live PJ.  What difference does it make if you are far away?  Its still live PJ and a ton of fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Pemberton Festival in 2016.  It was like a PJ show without all the usual BS.  No lines to get in, no lines for GA, no lines to buy stuff....  We got as close as we would by lining up 4 hours early, simply by advancing once Noel Gallagher was done his set.  The setlist was amazing, full of great tunes, and an amazing place for a show.    I think it's a top 5 show for me.   Out of anything I've seen since lightning bolt came out, it might be the best.

I also enjoyed the crap out of Virgin Fest (Calgary 09).

Many PJ festival shows are amazing.    Ballpark shows are great if you have GA and show up around 4pm to get a half decent spot on the floor :)

edit: I don't need to be up close, but concerts are even more amazing when your towards the front in the thick of everything :)  Concert experiences in nosebleeds vs front section of floor aren't equal :)

I don't need to be close. I have a blast no matter where I am.  Its a big party with friends and PJ is the house band. That is my take on festivals and stadium shows. Festivals are a bonus because you get to see other music you probably would not bother to go see.
