No problem. If you end up getting tickets through the pre-sale just shoot us an email explaining you don't have a smart phone and we'll get you sorted.
Nice, I emailed as well but haven't heard anything yet. I wonder what that means exactly but sounds like there will be ways to get by.
I predict it will be a huge headache for them and all of sudden thousands of people will not have a cell phone...
Just get a smart phone you cheap ass!
Hey I have to fund all these expensive Pearl Jam trips somehow.

don't drink any beer during the european tour part and you'll have plenty of money for a smart phone!
What's the reasoning for the no hard ticket stance? Environmental? You force say even a handful of fans to buy phones and right there you have harmed the environment way more 50,000 pieces of paper being printed. The amount of fossil fuels and other damaging environmental ingredients like the precious metals that go into making a phone surpass anything that printing out some tickets would. Not to mention we don't even know what the effects of the radiation are and probably won't for a generation.
Hey I own one, and sorry for the rant but it's just obnoxious that the expectation is we all need one. There are a lot of times I wish I didn't have one and I'm honestly envious of those who live happily without them.
It's to stop scalpers, not for the environment.
They had scalpers beat 20 years ago, just require fans to pick up tickets at the venue with a current ID. Wow that's difficult, I'm amazed how little progress we've accomplished in two decades. Just wait until even 2% (1000 fans) can't access the tickets on their phones for whatever reason. You'll see a backup that makes the first Gorge show of 2006 look like nothing.

That didn't beat scalpers because people were picking up their 10C tix from will call hours before doors opened and then selling them for a massive profit. Plenty of 10C members are willing to do that. We're not all on the up and up, haha. Yeah, the potential technical issues will be interesting. I'm going to go ahead and put the burden of having your phone charged adequately on the heads of fans. That is not a difficult task at all, so anyone who actually shows up with a dead battery has no one to blame but themselves. But tech glitches, cracked screens, and lost phones might cause a bit of an issue. I seriously doubt it will be 2% though. That seems really really high. I'm just going to go ahead and assume they'll be prepared to take care of the small number of people who experience some kind of issue like this. It wouldn't be hard to do. Just send them to will call to figure it out.

you can't get in the door with 10 club tickets? Am I reading that right? I may be the only one out there, but I don't have a smart phone. Also, no physical ticket is just lame!! I collect those!
I don't have a smart phone either, but it sounds like if I wanted to go and won tix through the fan club, they would sort it. And I also enjoy collecting physical tickets.

They'll probably send you an email to print out.
I hope I'm wrong, but I really doubt they'll go back on what they said about mobile tickets.
This is kind of funny. I thought that immediately when reading the info today. Because I remember the cries of "what if I don't have a DVD player" when they stopped releasing VHS movies in 2003, etc... And because I didn't have a smart phone till 2013 and I thought I was one of the last people. Didn't even have a cell phone until 2006 which I also thought I was one of the last people then... so to hear there are people who still don't have smart phones, it's bizarre and kind of cool. Even my most anti-tech, anti-phone friend got a smart phone about 3 years ago. The dude still has a rotary phone at his house on his landline.

I was hoping they would go to phone-free shows using yondr pouches like Jack White will be doing for his shows. The whole crowd buried in their smart phones is not my idea of a live concert experience.

Agreed, love this thread. I have a smartphone, so no worries here, but I'm sometimes envious of folks who haven't caved yet. *On a related note, I recently bought a box of old PJ VHS tapes (including SVT on VHS!). Now I need to go buy a cheap VHS player to play them!

Next they will force everyone to sit and kick you out if you put your hands in the air or dare to enjoy your time the way you see fit at a show you are paying for. I don’t like people that have phones out the whole time, but damn taking a photo or two for myself would be nice. Im glad most shows arent phone free

I've had the same flip phone since January of 2010. Same original battery that I charge every 4 or so days. My cell phone plan is $32 a month with unlimited talk and text. It can take pictures, though I'm not into the selfies anyway which would be hard with a flip phone. I can navigate by writing down directions, using a paper map, and don't mind asking for directions if I have to.

A friend is a baseball season ticket holder and sends me tickets that way when we meet up at games.
