I'm a newbie and this is the first thread that i browsed...in entirety...and i was quite surprised at how long it took someone to mention "I got Id". "soon forget" is another unbelieveably deep song...
St. Louis, 2003; Kansas City, 2010; Alpine Valley 1&2 2011; Wrigley Field, 2013; OKC, 2013; St. Louis, 2014; Memphis, 2014
Another "intense" spoken word song from Pearl Jam...
"I'm Still Here"
She said to me, over the phone
She wanted to see other people
I thought, "Well then, look around. They're everywhere"
Said that she was confused...
I thought, "Darling, join the club"
24 years old, Mid-life crisis
Nowadays hits you when you're young
I hung up, She called back, I hung up again
The process had already started
At least it happened quick
I swear, I died inside that night
My friend, he called
I didn't mention a thing
The last thing he said was, "Be sound"
Sound...
I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit
I just thought those would be such appropriate last words
But I'm still here
And small
So small.. How could this struggle seem so big?
So big...
While the palms in the breeze still blow green
And the waves in the sea still absolute blue
But the horror
Every single thing I see is a reminder of her
Never thought I'd curse the day I met her
And since she's gone and wouldn't hear
Who would care? What good would that do?
But I'm still here
So I imagine in a month...or 12
I'll be somewhere having a drink
Laughing at a stupid joke
Or just another stupid thing
And I can see myself stopping short
Drifting out of the present
Sucked by the undertow and pulled out deep
And there I am, standing
Wet grass and white headstones all in rows
And in the distance there's one, off on its own
So I stop, kneel
My new home...
And I picture a sober awakening, a re-entry into this little bar scene
Sip my drink til the ice hits my lip
Order another round
And that's it for now
Sorry
Never been too good at happy endings...
lots of different kinds of intensity. so off the top of my head...
...Porch, Release, Dissident, Blood, Corduroy, Tremor Christ, Last Exit, SOLAT, Sleight of Hand, Insignificance, Save You, Indifference, Do the Evolution, Given to Fly, I'm Open, Go
ALIVE-NOW I CAN'T SEE I JUST STARE I I'M STILL ALIVE.....
BLACK-I CAN FEEL THEIR LAUGHTER SO WHY DO I SEAR,CANVAS,CLAY,HORIZONS.....
RELEASE-RELEASE MEEEEEEEE
HUNGER STRIKE
PORCH-WOULD NOT EVER TOUCH YOU,HOLD YOU,FEEL YOU,EVER AGAIN....(ESPECIALLY THE WAY HE SINGS)
I think it must be Love Boat Captain because of the phrase
'Lost 9 friends,we'll never know, two years ago today'
I was at RockWerchter when we heard what had happened in Roskilde during the Pearl Jam performance. Pearl Jam was supposed to appear at Werchter the next day. It gives something of a personal touch for me to this beautiful song.
Last Kiss is also a big tearjerker and a very intense song I think.
I know someday you'll have a beautiful live. I know you'll be a Star.

Have a drink they’re buying,
Bottom of, bottle of denial,
Big guy, big eye, watching me,
Have to wonder what it sees,
Progress, laced with, ramifications,
Freedom’s big plunge.
Pull the innocent from a crowd,
Raise the sticks then bring ‘em down ,
If they fail to obey,
If they fail to obey.
For every tool they lend us, a loss of independence.
I pledge to my grievance to the flag,
‘Cause you don’t give blood, then take it back again,
We’re deserving of much more.
Progress, taste it, invest-it-all,
Champagne breakfast for everyone.
Break the innocent when they’re proud,
Raise the stakes, then bring ‘em down,
If they fail to obey,
If they fail to obey.
Pledge my grievance to the flag,
Aw come on, don’t give blood, then take it back again,
We’re all deserving something more.
I wanna breathe, part of the seen,
I wanna taste, everyone I see,
I wanna run, when I’m up high,
I wanna run to the sea,
I only want life to be,
I just wanna be,
I will feel alive as long as I am free.

nah, it's a song, and it's intense.
after spending half his life searching, he still felt as blank as the ceiling at which he stared.
he is alive, but feels absolutely nothing.
so is he?
now that's intense, people.
