This is a really haunting song, it has this kind of an eerie ring to it...

Look at the liner notes and you'll see it says "4 Heather" at the bottom. Heather is Eddie's cousin who was sent to rehab (probably before she was 18). He also wrote Leash for her...what a cool cousin (Ed).

...as far as getting out of "her prison", I know she made it out of rehab and eventually went to "night school" for high school (my bro was one of her friends at school and got to meet Eddie over at her house one day back when PJ just started making it).

To me this song is just so sad. I interpret as she writes letters home, but they might as well be to a rock or stone, for no one is listening. Yet, the girl still writes and when discharged still wants to go home, probably seeking mom's approval, which she'll never get, unless she plays along and becomes a clone of mom!
She, the girl, is stronger than her mother and mommy dearest can't handle it! So, mom puts her away! Some stupid Dr. diagnosis her, comfirming to mom that the girl does indeed have problems!
Mom is the one who taught her to be so strong! Because of the fact that mom has always been so weak, this child had to grow up alone and out of that learned to be strong and independent.
The exacy irony that put her in this locked up facility.
But, why go home, she's asked, and I think the bottom line is for mom to just once approve of her!
Thanks for letting me post...Heather...who, by the way, has a very weak and dependent mom and all 4 of her daughters are very strong and independent. Our mother has lots of problems with this and in the end left all of us with self-doubt and years of therapy to get her poison out of us.
