You out there?

Lemme just say I thought this song was "alright" the first time I heard it...then I saw it LIVE and it was OVER. Once again Stone...you and your catchy little riffs. VERY nice. A clever, witty, cathcy song. I love the Showbox version for a variety of reasons. I especially love Ed's little hand motions during the chorus. :)

My name is Lydia...and I loooooove the leaguer!!! :D

Thanks PJ!

and thanks for bringing that shit back on the tour. It wouldn't have been the same without it. Mask no mask, there's no difference...I'm just glad you kept on a playin it.

(p.s. the mask and jacket do RULE imo though)

:D

>MT VIEW, prime place for it, and you delivered...THANK YOU<

Those that don't love the leaguer, please post elsewhere.

$$ Bu$hleaguer $$

How does he do it? How do they do it? Uncanny and immutable.
This is such a happening tailpipe of a party.
Like sugar, the guests are so refined.

A confidence man but why so beleagued?
He's not a leader he's a Texas leaguer.
Swinging for the fence. Got lucky with a strike.
Drilling for fear makes the job simple.
Born on third. Thinks he got a triple.

Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way.

I remember when you sang that song about today.
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed.

A think tank of aloof multiplication.
A nicotine wish and a columbus decanter.
Retrenchment and hoggishness.
The aristocrat choir sings, "What's the ruckus?"
The haves have not a clue.
The immenseness of suffering.
And the odd negotiation. A rarity.
With onionskin plausibility of life.
And a keyboard reaffirmation. (Ed points to BOOM)

Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way.

I remember when you sang that song about today.
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed.

    This song ROCKS!!

    ABSOLUTELY!!!

LOL!! thats the way ALL PJ songs should be (accepted that is...) and i dont think that they had many (if any) people booing them that night over that one....

This song ALWAYS makes me want to get up and dance around the room (too bad i dont have the mask and/or jacket LOL!!!)
  • I love this song, did from the very first time I heard it. I had a few people tell me it was a novelty song of sorts, but no friggin way, it totally rocks, and seeing/hearing it in Toronto blew me away...like a giddy little school girl.

Something about the groove in the chorus...just love it.
  • Lydia,

I hope your not surprised to see me pledge my support of the leaguer. Great song, awesome chorus, i didnt get to see it live, but i heard it, and its cool, real cool.
-one thing to remember, always have a good time, all the time
  • This song came out when criticism of Bush was "unacceptable" and I thank PJ for having the courage to perform it even after it caused an uproar in Denver.
". . . as each breath goes by I only own my mind."
  • i love this song, its great when they play it live. very catchy.
"born on third, thought he hit a triple."
    that's genius.

  • I fuckin' flipped when they played it in T.O. This is a great tune!

You've changed your place in this world!
  • born on third thinks he got a triple...

    woot woot for the leaguer!
    ...please stand by the shore
  • i was so-so about this song before i saw it live. Once i saw it live, i loved it! It sounded great, especially when Stone played it acoustically...that surprised me a lot. I was really glad to have witnessed this "controversial" song.

haha! Hell yeah fredlig verden. Where you at the show? I traveled all the way from Cali via Greyhound for that show...first time I had seen the boys in 3 years. Oooh man what a show! And to think, I didn't even know about all the controversary behind the mask until I got back to the Bay Area and heard it about it through friends 2 days later. LOL!! Really, those 12 or so people walking out did not actually have the impact that the newspapers led people to believe. With all that anticipation, all the wild, grateful fans...all the love in the air....it was not even noticeable. Definitely NOT what the show should be remembered by. I was soooo into that show and that Bu$hleaguer performance and so was the majority of the crowd. It was awesome!! First show of the tour and I got it and just fell in love with it. Denver Bu$hleaguer, loved every second of it.

  • I am quite puzzled..? I attended the Denver show on April 1 st.
and can't seem to recall any animosity fiom the crowd..the performance of this most awsome song was exceptional..! BRAVA!
Made me feel like dancin' the night away..I am sure the view from the second row had no effect on me at all..I was totally moved throughout the show..did I forget to say..: the show was AWSOME.? This is a great tune..KEEP EM COMIN' BOYZ.! the anticipation is rising upon the release of the next BLACK CIRCLE..
Vinyl dfinately needs to make a comeback..it is sooo rich and warm sounding. I love these guys..we need more musicians like them..they are great.! don't you all agree.!
    GOD BLESS US ALL...**==
    reports say:
the fans were boo-ing and walked out that night..?! the Pepsi center remained a FULL HOUSE for the remainder of the evening..? did I miss something.? let me know..:)

  • Yes!!! Love it love it love it!

I got 'it' at Seattle 1 2002 and Boston 1

In Seattle Ed put Bush on hist hand and feigned a bj...it was classic.

Boston, Ed came out in a shiny suit coat, it was great. Did a little dance and dipped the mic stand.

I think the whole 'controversy' about the song was blown way way out of proportion. The people who've been listening to pj and just NOW get offended or pissed because of this song obviously haven't been paying attention to the lyrics. Grievance, Evolution, I Am a Patriot, Brain of J, Insignificance, Undone and others. Bushleaguer is actually quite 'tame' compared to the way they try to get the message through on some of these other songs.

I admire the band for sticking by their convictions, and not standing down in the face of harsh criticism.

  • i absolutely love this song and am so happy i got to hear it in uniondale even if it did kinda fuck up the show alittle.
    Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no one calls us to the land
And no one crosses there alive
    And no one speaks
    And no one tries
And no one flies around the sun-echoes

    <~~~ watching the montage

SUCH a catchy little riff there. GO STONEY!! :D

OMG this montage though....I LOVE IT! It is SUCH a giant middle finger. FUCK YEAH! Let your voice be heard! Go Eddie!! :D

These dance moves are hilarious. The things that man is doing to his body and that mask. LMAO!!! And that silver jacket?!!? Again, looooooovin it. :D

The one shot where Ed is in a blue t-shirt just doggin the hell outta the mask?!? LOL!! And then he goes from being mad, to completely digusted and then he just gives up and shakes his head in utter confusion. LOL! OMG it's the best!! Also love all the "impaled" close ups. haha. ;)

    YES!

Shit like this makes me love this band even more.

THANK YOU PEARL JAM...for this song, for this montage...and for BEING YOURSELVES AND LETTING YOUR VOICES BE HEARD...regardless.
