You out there?
Lemme just say I thought this song was "alright" the first time I heard it...then I saw it LIVE and it was OVER. Once again Stone...you and your catchy little riffs. VERY nice. A clever, witty, cathcy song. I love the Showbox version for a variety of reasons. I especially love Ed's little hand motions during the chorus.
My name is Lydia...and I loooooove the leaguer!!!
Thanks PJ!
and thanks for bringing that shit back on the tour. It wouldn't have been the same without it. Mask no mask, there's no difference...I'm just glad you kept on a playin it.
(p.s. the mask and jacket do RULE imo though)
>MT VIEW, prime place for it, and you delivered...THANK YOU<

Those that don't love the leaguer, please post elsewhere.

How does he do it? How do they do it? Uncanny and immutable.
This is such a happening tailpipe of a party.
Like sugar, the guests are so refined.
A confidence man but why so beleagued?
He's not a leader he's a Texas leaguer.
Swinging for the fence. Got lucky with a strike.
Drilling for fear makes the job simple.
Born on third. Thinks he got a triple.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way.
I remember when you sang that song about today.
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed.
A think tank of aloof multiplication.
A nicotine wish and a columbus decanter.
Retrenchment and hoggishness.
The aristocrat choir sings, "What's the ruckus?"
The haves have not a clue.
The immenseness of suffering.
And the odd negotiation. A rarity.
With onionskin plausibility of life.
And a keyboard reaffirmation. (Ed points to BOOM)

Thanks Karenthevedder.
LOL! Oh yeah, from what I heard on the boot that Toronto version was incredible! That's how it was in Mt View too, just totally accepted. It makes the song that much more enjoyable when you have a crowd that can go along with it and appreciate it, ya know?

eddie with the mask ... dancing .... great lol
Don't let me know we're invisible
We could dance, dance, dance thru' the fire
Dance, dance, dance thru' the fire
ABSOLUTELY!!!
LOL!! thats the way ALL PJ songs should be (accepted that is...) and i dont think that they had many (if any) people booing them that night over that one....
This song ALWAYS makes me want to get up and dance around the room (too bad i dont have the mask and/or jacket LOL!!!)
Something about the groove in the chorus...just love it.
I hope your not surprised to see me pledge my support of the leaguer. Great song, awesome chorus, i didnt get to see it live, but i heard it, and its cool, real cool.
"born on third, thought he hit a triple."
that's genius.
woot woot for the leaguer!

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV

I got 'it' at Seattle 1 2002 and Boston 1
In Seattle Ed put Bush on hist hand and feigned a bj...it was classic.
Boston, Ed came out in a shiny suit coat, it was great. Did a little dance and dipped the mic stand.
I think the whole 'controversy' about the song was blown way way out of proportion. The people who've been listening to pj and just NOW get offended or pissed because of this song obviously haven't been paying attention to the lyrics. Grievance, Evolution, I Am a Patriot, Brain of J, Insignificance, Undone and others. Bushleaguer is actually quite 'tame' compared to the way they try to get the message through on some of these other songs.
I admire the band for sticking by their convictions, and not standing down in the face of harsh criticism.
nowadays hits you when you're young
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no one calls us to the land
And no one crosses there alive
And no one speaks
And no one tries
And no one flies around the sun-echoes

SUCH a catchy little riff there. GO STONEY!!
OMG this montage though....I LOVE IT! It is SUCH a giant middle finger. FUCK YEAH! Let your voice be heard! Go Eddie!!
These dance moves are hilarious. The things that man is doing to his body and that mask. LMAO!!! And that silver jacket?!!? Again, looooooovin it.
The one shot where Ed is in a blue t-shirt just doggin the hell outta the mask?!? LOL!! And then he goes from being mad, to completely digusted and then he just gives up and shakes his head in utter confusion. LOL! OMG it's the best!! Also love all the "impaled" close ups. haha.
YES!
Shit like this makes me love this band even more.
THANK YOU PEARL JAM...for this song, for this montage...and for BEING YOURSELVES AND LETTING YOUR VOICES BE HEARD...regardless.
