Concerned when his re-election campaign and fund raising efforts were sluggish. Thought first to force him out rather than intervene and get him help. Compassionate conservativism is alive and well.
Oh, America. Wtf.... with that many people willing to vote for this guy, I'm concerned about the gene pool down there. I'm finding it hard to imagine how Trump voters and everyone else are ever going to reconcile in society... Trump aside, where is this all going??

remember when the office demanded some sort of respect and admiration regardless of politics? now our leader calls people losers. never thought i'd see the day.
Something many of us have known for quite sometime, that the repube party is morally bankrupt. Just look toward that level of evangelical support that Team Trump Treason enjoys. Suckers.
How about mounting a replica .50 cal to your Jeep during a parade? Sounds like a great idea. #Murica
Kobach's campaign was quick to defend the candidate's decision to wave at the crowd standing next to what appeared to be a .50 caliber machine gun.
"The gun is a replica," Kobach spokeswoman Danedri Herbert said in a text message.
"The Secretary says those who use the excuse of school violence to restrict the right to bear arms are deeply misguided. We need to stand up for our Second Amendment rights and recognize the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

The republicans have given their party over to trump. Which is crazy considering I was concerned they gave it to the religious right....and this is worse.

Hmmm. Seems to me that the police treat replica guns as if they are real guns, in terms of assessing threat. Maybe not if you’re a white republican, though.

While the conservative posters on here insist that everyone has moved on from the Clinton issue and that it's only the Dems bringing it back up, it's pretty clear that the GOP continues to bang that drum. The GOP Senate nominee for Virginia, known anti-immigration, pro-Confederate and pro-white supremacist Stewart, is campaigning on locking Clinton up.
I couldn't understand why the republican party was so scared of trump and then I see these results and now I can't believe that there are voters out there ok with a racist, sexist, person of limited intelligence, bully with thin skin and do whatever he says at the ballot box. I have friends that are far more liberal than me worried about America moving towards a dictatorship type government. I laughed it off. I'm not laughing anymore.

I'm in Virginia so it will be fascinating to watch all of the racist, sexist things Stewart will say over the next five months. He's a joke of a candidate and even Bill Bolling (R), two time LT. Gov said today "I am extremely disappointed that a candidate like Corey Stewart could win the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. This is clearly not the Republican Party I once knew, loved and proudly served. Every time I think things can’t get worse they do, and there is no end in sight."
By contrast, Trump said "Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia," Trump wrote. "Now he runs against a total stiff, Tim Kaine, who is weak on crime and borders, and wants to raise your taxes through the roof. Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning!" For the record, Kaine is going to demolish him.

I wonder if this Bill Bolling will still vote for the Republican though, and/or stay aligned with the party? Are any disgusted Republicans actually switching teams in response to this shit, and going with Dems or indies, or are they just eating the shit at the end of the day?

I wonder if the current republican party as it stands is going to give rise to a new tea party type situation where we have republicans who want to "take back their party', but can't, so they start a new one.

My guess is no. He's actually always been a moderate Republican. There's a much bigger gap between he and Stewart than he and Kaine. Sad times indeed.

The 161st
session of the Southern Baptist Convention assembled
this week in Dallas, Texas. The Convention includes more than 47,000 churches
ministering to more than 15 million people, and its houses of worship can be
found in all 50 states and in communities of every size.
Vice
President Mike Pence addressed the Convention yesterday.
"You know, the President likes to say, in his words, that we're a Nation
of faith," the Vice President said. "The truth is, Southern Baptists
have always worked to bring about renewal of America, and new beginnings. And
as I stand before you today, I believe that our Nation is in the midst of a
time of renewal."
The real
source of America's greatness, he reiterated, is in the work
of its people. "The truth is no podium that President Trump and I will
ever stand behind will be of greater consequence than the pulpits you stand
behind every Sunday morning. No policy we enact will ever be more meaningful
than the ministries you lead. And no action we take will ever be more powerful
than your prayers."
