Got this short scale cheapie along with that bottom Fender Rumble 15 amp off CL yesterday.

Figured it would be good to have around the house, and the price was right.

    First bass ever.

Oh man. That's like a gateway drug right there. Before you know it, you'll have an amp rig as big as your fridge and things will be shaking off the walls in your house.

    Congrats!

    It's (mostly) for my kids.

My son writes a lot of his own songs, and I thought having a short scale bass around could only help him with that.

And yeah, I was surprised by how quiet that amp is. I guess it takes a lot more wattage to amplify a bass. Makes sense.

Just bought some new strings from Sweetwater, but I don't think we'll go bigger on the amp unless someone decided to focus primarily on bass. That Rumbler 15 is perfectly fine for practicing at home.

Oh yes, definitely fine for practice. Those are solid amps. It's just addictive is all I meant. Bass is one of those things that you get to hear AND feel and once it grabs hold, it can be difficult to keep from wanting more.

He did say yesterday that he wants to play bass, but he wants to play everything.

At some point I’ll try to find an eight-track recorder for the kid.

Thanks!  I haven't got to spend a lot of time with it yet but definitely a dirtier tone than the humbuckers.  I love it thus far.   It will be interesting to see what happens with Guitar Center and what deals may be had.

Bought an Epiphone Sheraton II Pro last week.  Didn’t feel like shelling out Gibson ES-335 money.   I like the Epiphone so far. Anyone else have semi-hollows they like?

Ha.  Thanks. Have another acoustic on reserve at Sweetwater.  Should come in during December.  Using all the budgeted travel funds for 2020 for guitar stuff.  Haven’t bought any guitars since 2014 so it had been a while.

Some really amazing guitars up there! Love the strat. Beauty.

The epiphone looks great. Next on my list is a Les Paul but I’ll go with the epiphone too. Can’t justify the Gibson price.

That PRS looks bad ass. Never played one but intrigued because I play a strat most often and it’s very similar.

Besides the price is there a huge difference between gibson and epiphone?

The price difference is definitely more than the tangible differences in the guitar.   I watch these YouTube comparison videos and can’t tell much of a difference.  Obviously this is YouTube and not in the room but to me the amplifier and the attack of the player make the biggest difference.

That is awesome.  When Sweetwater sent me my guitar it said to wait 24 hours to open to let it acclimate to the temperature.   That was difficult.  Look forward to hearing how it plays.

Yeah that is what mine said too but I waited about 15 hours and it was fine. Its more if the guitar is a nitro finish or acoustic or if the temp changed drastically so it's fine.
