You guys have Japadog in the States? Pretty good! (sorry, not pizza)
They had one in NYC but it closed. Korean style seems to be more popular. I have had more than a few Japanese hot dogs. They are quite good, but the quality of the dog is usually not great. Certainly not as good as a Hummel, Rosol, or Boars Head. And it is ok to put ketchup on your hot dog.0 -

This weekend we rock Portland0 -
Kathy puts ketchup on a hot dog.
She eats her hot dogs with ONLY KETCHUP.
Strange enough, I still married her.Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....0 -

If she's not from NY this is understandable. How this was never corrected though remains to be seen.SPEEDY MCCREADY said:Kathy puts ketchup on a hot dog.

I think ill have me some pizza tonight. Why not.0 -
I grew up in CT. Ketchup mustard onion relish with a split top bun. Preferably grilled. Those Vienna dogs are not bad, but they are not good either. I think we may need a hot dog thread.0

Yes. Im from Chicago, but I have traveled all 48 continental states and have had a few hot dogs from many of them. I also have had 2 heart surgeries to prove it.
I have yet to taste a hot dog that is better than Vienna. Please tell me which ones you think are better. I will order online and have them shipped to me. Seriously. I'll give em a taste. KTake me piece by piece.....

Hummel brothers from New Haven CT. Rosols from New Britain CT. Or try a natural casing Boars Head, all beef or frankfurters. Like many great foods, it is a regional thing. My complaint about Vienna is that it is always steamed or boiled. I know many think of Chicago as a hot dog capitol, but CT has a spot in the top 5.
EDIT: CT also has the best pizza in the country. With a nod to Chicago.Post edited by Get_Right on0 -
I will second the natural casing Boars Head. I buy those more often than Nathans. I would also find the original Nathans too though if you can. I usually get them from Nathans rather than cook them myself but I hardly ever go to Nathans anymore.Get_Right said:SPEEDY MCCREADY said:

I never see Nathans natural casing dogs at the market. Always skinless. But those onions are a staple in our fridge. Their restaurants are terrible IMHO.tempo_n_groove said:

Whats terrible about them? They make hot dogs. Kind of hard to mess that up, lol.Get_Right said:

I agree with the natural casing and finding them. It's why I just buy the Boarshead.
You gotta have that snap!0 -

Dirty places. There is a balance between age, grime and charm. The Nathans outside of Coney Island do not have it. They sold out. I prefer a papaya dog 100 times over.0 -
Chicago dog from Johnnie’s, which you recommended to me back in Summer ‘24, is definitely a contender for best hotdog of my life.SPEEDY MCCREADY said:

Speaking of Chicago, they do have some great pizza. Deep dish. Original Unos and Pequod's. The wait is a drag and you will not need to eat for 24 hours after you have it, but it is still good. And yes Speedy Lou's delivered to FL! never had the tavern style.0

I can't tell you if Vienna is better or not, because I don't recall eating a Vienna Hot Dog but try Hot Dogs from Kansas City Steak.SPEEDY MCCREADY said:
