I can't believe it's been a year!  Also, I can't believe that was Chris's last show, still heartbroken.

I started a PJ/travel blog today because we are following PJ throughout Europe for a month this summer, but I made sure to take some time to write about Chris Cornell’s impact on my life.

Listening to artist confidential in Lithium , SiriusXM. Just incredibly sad. What a performance and interview. Legendary. Hurts just as much now as it did last year.

this is not going to be a popular opinion, but I'm just not a fan of CC's most recent output. This new song doesn't do it for me. he is one of the best songwriters of all time, but the last few years, it seems more.....easy listening. I love his softer stuff, but Higher Truth and this new song just don't do it for me.
    Darwinspeed, all.

    Cheers,

higher truth is a great album. its not soundgarden or audio slave, but its not suppose to be.  the latest soundgarden album was plenty rocking?

this bugs me. just because I say I'm not a fan of CC's recent solo work, it automatically jumps to me expecting it to sound like SG or AS. that's not it. I love much of his solo stuff. EM is one of my favourite albums of all time. His song Till The Sun Comes Back Around I love. Same with I Promise It's Not Goodbye. But Higher Truth just doesn't do it for me.

I loved the acoustic years of CC's solo career.  The first time I heard the live in Sweden bootleg, was a real holy shit moment.  I saw him do 4 shows during the songbook era.  Everyone of them was amazing.

That's what I was expecting from Higher Truth.   Chris and his guitar.   The first few listens I thought it had a little too much effects on some of the tracks, but it quickly became my favourite CC album.  I love Higher Truth.  It's an amazing album.

this. the live in sweden show is amazing. And i was second row during one of his acoustic shows. it was one of the best shows of my life.

I'm listening to HT right now to try to give it another go.

Agreed about the emotions and this release is too soon, IMO.

Different strokes man... Higher Truth is my favorite Cornell album. I think it’s genius. That’s part of the beauty of his body of work. So diverse that there’s something there for just about everyone. Just a fearless artist. So willing to try something new and give it all.

absolutely. people joke about how terrible Scream was, but I can't imagine the courage it took for the frontman of Soundgarden to do an album like that.

A few weeks ago I managed to listen to Chris' voice and feel actual joy.
Sometimes, though, I'll hear it and it'll feel as though my heart's being ripped out of my chest. Today was one of those days - I tried listening to the box set and suddenly it was May 18, 2017 again.

I totally agree with you about CC's output in his last couple years HFD. I love most of his solo work, but Higher Truth didn't really do it for me (that Prince cover he did on Sirius in 2015 sure did though - that's the last thing he did that I really loved). I also understand where you're coming from here ^^^. It bugs me when people accuse me of wishing for that just because I don't like something they did more recently, whoever the artist is.

I also love Higher Truth.  After Live in Sweden and the few years of the songbook tour, all I wanted was an acoustic CC album.  When I first heard higher truth I thought it had too many other instruments and effects, but it quickly grew on me.  It's easily my favourite solo album.   Makes me sad that he went out on such a high note.

Just listening to some TOTD live stuff from the tour a few years ago. So sad that this guy isn't with us anymore. What I'd give to hear that voice live again. For me, he's the greatest rock singer that's ever lived.

I’m not sure if this was mentioned in the Tribute Concert thread before it was locked, but I’ve only just seen this Ross Halfin photo.
Chris’ guitar was plugged in and providing feedback at the end of the show...

    What a heartbreakingly beautiful photo.
