kind of depressing sharing a birthday with him. obviously much worse for his family, this isn't about me, but i ultimately always get a bit sad on that day as it has always been tied to him because of my fandom.
I can understand the position of all the parties involved. From the band perspective, this was a business with four owners. Three of the four business owners are still here and they want to finish the project they started. They also want to honor Chris and his legacy at the same. By using "business" i'm not implying that they are in it for the money, but moreso that they were a group with a goal, and there is still a group and a goal to finish.
Chris's family though wants to protect his legacy and whether Chris would want music issued that he wasn't finished with. Do they want to go through the emotions of a new album with their late husband/dad singing on it.
Not an easy call.
Family has already released stuff he wasn't finished with. They should let the band decide imo, as this was material recorded for the next soundgarden album

RIP Chris - 3 years already. I still can't get over your loss. May your soul be relieved wherever it is now. Your music is with us for ever, hopefully your loved band mates will be able to deliver the last album you had started together. RIP.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact he's no longer here. I try to enjoy the music, and most of the time I enjoy it for the incredible music it is, but every now and then it catches me off guard and I'm reminded of that day three years ago. It makes you realise how fragile life is, how things can change so quickly, so permanently. Rest easy Mr. Cornell.
Spun Temple of the dog last night not realizing that he died in May. 3 years goes way too fast. What a cool rock star and genuinely nice guy. Got the chance to chat with him for a couple minutes, as I was walking away he reached his hand out to shake my hand. Special moment and thankful.
In related news, my wife played me the hip hop song that Lily (Cornell) Silver appears on. She really has a great voice. Cool to see her out there having fun.
