    Do you hold any and all to the same standards? Though I don’t approve of construction workers making lewd comments towards women, I approve of it less from the President, for example. A President is supposed to inspire the masses towards moral greatness, not to lower that bar. In a nation as blindly patriotic (on average) as the States of America, that figurehead status has serious impact on the social direction of the world. The day is called Memorial Day. Don’t you think the one who sends troops to fight on his behalf ought to take thirty seconds out of the ordinary, for once in his life, to just selflessly show gratitude for someone else’s sacrifice without relating it back to his own accomplishments? Memorial Day seems to just be a pretext used to keep himself on the pedestal he perceives.

    RoleModel is feeling a little defensive for McDonald I think. It would be hard for a Trump supporter not to be though- they believe everything he says starting back with MAGA. They think McDonald is a real tuff guy because McDonald has stated that he's very brave and really tuff (in as many words).

    For example, remember when he criticized prisoners of war (he prefers guys who don't get captured versus crappy soldiers who do)? And remember when he said he would have charged into the school and taken down the shooter?

    I was actually very excited for the Roseanne reboot. I loved the original and John Goodman is one of my favorite actors. One thing i always liked about the show is the set. It is exactly how a blue collar American family house would look like. I never payed much attention to any of the Roseanne stuff but she definetly crossed the line. The show actually represented white, blue collar America very well and wasnt overtly  pro Trump at all. I think pj soul summed it up perfectly. All sides of the political spectrum were depicted very accurately.

    Only things i watch on tv on the regular is Tigers baseball, big bang theory, anthony bourdain, and cnn (especially if micheal avenatti is on, lol).   Yes, Cnn is very repetitive. Once i catch up on days news i turn it off unless its some big breaking news day. Lately though, there is breaking news like every hour and i like current events so i watch alot more than I probably should.

    I don't see how the show was at all appealing to the crazy, racist far right. At all. Her son has a black daughter, her grandkid is "super gay", her sister is a hard left winger, one of her daughters is also very left, and her other daughter tried to be a surrogate ... How does any of that appeal to the crazy, racist far right? Maybe you should watch it if you want to comment on the content?

    Yeah, I know, I watched it. But she was also the only one on the show who was, and she was criticized for it openly by a few of the other characters. That more than balances things out. Also, FYI, Trump was never once explicitly referred to in the show. The show sucked, but it definitely wasn't geared towards the crazy racist right at all in terms of content, for the reasons I already listed, and I'm not sure how anyone could keep insisting that after knowing that information.... Trump congratulated her on the ratings because she's a Trump supporter in real life, not because the themes in the show were crazy racist right. They simply were not. At all.

    I wasn't saying all that.... don't really see anyone saying all of that.... but they did say the show was meant to target rural and Midwest viewers... and the main character and namesake of the show is a trump voter/supporter in real life AND on the show... doesn't mean anything, but it means something lol 
    Oh, obviously it means something to the Trumpsters.... It makes me wonder if they could have made the show about abortions, Mexican illegal immigrants getting away with it, and incorporating the teachings of the Q'uran in public schools, and as long as a Trump supporter is on it, the Trumpsters would have watched it, lol. I'm starting to think they stand for absolutely nothing, heinous or otherwise, lol. But look, are we really going to criticize the alt-right types watching shows about acceptance of the LGBTQ community and interracial families? What are we mad about here? I'm not sure. The show still doesn't spread around the hateful messages of Trump, so I'm not sure what the problem is (not saying you have a problem - just in general I mean... I don't see why people would be against the show... I think there is only reason to be against the actor.


    Well, the show is on ABC, which is owned by Disney. How could it openly spread around the hateful messages of Trump? I don't that that would be possible. The show is meant to portray Trump supporters in a positive light, hence the stuff you mention. But most viewers are aware of who the protagonist is and what her views are. So to me, it was kind of a wink and a nod. Every episode was meant to give her the last word and hold the higher ground than the other characters. An example was how Jackie was made to look foolish in the first episode...with her wearing the pink vagina hat and all.


    Bottom line is there's a reason the crazy alt right people promoted the hell out of this show and are defending her racist nonsense today. It's not that the show, itself pushed all of their crazy shit....it was more because it portrayed Trump supporters in such a positive filter, despite all of the racist/crazy shit beneath the surface. So to have it go out like this, with it being cancelled because of a racist tweet by Roseanne herself, is some glorious fucking irony and I love it.  

    Okay, those are good points (though I thought the crazy Jackie thing was somewhat balanced with Roseanne supporting Trump... but that included my own attitude about Trump, lol. It would look at lot different to a Trump supporter, which I hadn't really thought of... because I wasn't watching it with a political perspective at all. It was just Roseanne, lol. When I watch that, my mind more turns off, not on :lol: ). I see where you're coming from, if the alt right was promoting the hell out of the show. I have never heard that at all, so if that's true, then that changes things a lot... Is it true? Sure, Trump sent his stupid tweet out... I sincerely just still wasn't thinking about the show on a political level. It's just stupid Roseanne... Plus, what about all the other actors on the show??? Aren't just about all of them totally left? I guess I just didn't give one out of many main characters that much weight, even if her name is the title. In other words, I didn't take Roseanne seriously enough I guess. :lol:
    Well hell, if the Trumpsters are looking to Roseanne the sitcom to bolster their position and make Trump supporters seem reasonable .... maybe we don't have that much to worry about after all, har har. ;)

    I think you’re over thinking it.  I see like 250-500 people a day depending on where I’m working that day, and I pretty much chat with most of them.  It’s just part of the job.  Tons of them said happy Memorial Day- no one near them or anyone on staff thought it was strange- just a greeting and that’s that. Sort of what I keep trying to tell everyone here- life is too short to get all flustered or argumentative because someone else is happy about something.   If you’re unhappy with the political situation, just wait a few years and vote to change it, don’t freak out about someone else just living their life.  It’s rarely worth the spike in your blood pressure.  Happy Memorial Day.

    If Team trump Treason is so concerned about the FBI meddling in the mid-terms, why doesn’t he petition the UN to send observers to ensure our democratic process? Or better yet, ask Russia to be involved, seeing how they have such vast experience in free and fair elections? Someone should ask Sarah at the next presser.
