I came through it into Washington a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't have imagined it being much worse, without them actually getting violent.
I think crossing the border into the US has always been a pain in the ass. When I cross into Canada, I'm greeted in a friendly way, welcomed to the country, asked a couple of basic questions conversationally and I'm on my way. When I cross back into the US I get the third degree. Why did I go, what did I do, where am I going. Always stern. Like an interrogation. Never a welcome back. I'm a US citizen, but feel much more welcomed entering Canada than entering my own damned country. Power-trippin' customs and border agents.
I had the opposite experience. Although the Canadian officers were friendly, I got the third degree because I hadn't been to Canada in 30 years.
When I explained I was going to see one of Gord's last shows, I got confused looks from the agent and was asked to pull into the waiting area so they can run my passport...again.
It was like they had no idea who Gord was and what horrible situation was going on with his health. Did they know in two days about 40% of their country was going to unite to watch his bands final show live on national TV?
Upon my return to the States, the American agent (younger female) was like " cool, great band" and waved me right by.
But what am I going to do with all these AR15’s I bought??
Go down to the southern border and assist our military in repelling the “soft invasion” that’s been occurring for decades. It’s bluster for a domestic audience and particularly his base. All its really doing is illustrating how inept he really is and how gullible those who voted for him are in believing in a “big, beautiful wall.” W and Obama both sent the national guard to assist with border security but they were under the auspices of having worked with their respective national security teams, with a defined scope of mission and a defined period of time. Team Trump Treason is smarter than all his generals and came up with this brilliant plan all on his own. More brilliant brilliancy in all its brilliance on display.
What kind of “crazy shit” are you referring to? I think that the actual border has needed more personnel for a long time. Living down here you are constantly reminded of cartels trafficking people across the border or sneaking people in only to leave them in the desert to die. There has been crazy shit going on at the border for some time now.

Yes, in all of those historical instances, there have been what sound like very rational justifications for such actions like deploying up to 4000 national guard troops to the border and getting the military to pay for this kind of defense infrastructure. From what I've learned, militarizing the borders is not exactly what America the Free is supposed to be about. Yep, fear propaganda about illegal immigrants is exactly how to militarize what used to be relatively open borders without tipping the citizens off to a bigger, scarier future picture.
