    That should be investigated. Really fucked up.

    I'm not sure what their personal tax situations are but they seemed to be W-2 employees of the government. No reason to audit W-2s.

    I know Comey wrote a book and likely had self employment income from that but that probably wasn't the year audited.

    The article says that Comey ended up getting more back...probably found more charitable contributions or something when they were getting their proof together.  McCabe owed a bit...likely misreported investment income or something immaterial.

    Messed up, but to me less bad than when he made a habit of threatening to deny FEMA funds to states with unfriendly governors.  The California wildfires being an obvious example.  Blaming the state for forest mismanagement for fires that started on federal land and trying to use that as a pretext to slow needed aid 

    this is an audit of two guys.  However it shows a habit of using all the levers of the federal government to address personal grievances 

     The list of misdeeds is so long I would be surprised if the IRS story lasts more than a few news cycles before disappearing

    Michael Flynn, the retired Army general and onetime adviser to President Donald Trump, was cited by the Defense Department inspector general for failing to disclose lucrative speaking engagements and other business arrangements with foreign entities, prompting the U.S. government to pursue tens of thousands of dollars in penalties against him, according to documents.

    Investigators determined that Flynn received nearly $450,000 from Turkish and Russian interests in 2015, including for an appearance in Moscow alongside President Vladimir Putin, but found no records that he had sought government approval beforehand. Their findings are detailed in a January 2021 memo to the Army released through the Freedom of Information Act on Thursday.

    The Army notified Flynn in a May 2 letter, obtained by The Washington Post, that it would seek to recoup $38,557.06 from him, zeroing in on money and in-kind compensation he received for a gala dinner celebrating the 10th anniversary of RT, the Kremlin-run news agency. Putin sat beside Flynn at the event and later told NBC News that he “didn’t even really talk to” him.

    Republicans piss and moan about the Trump campaign getting "spied on" and act like a horrible injustice occurred, but there was so much probable cause for intelligence agencies to be tracking these clowns. Flynn joined Trump's campaign team in Feb. 2016. He was known to be toxic and compromised before that.

    A shockingly high number of Republicans also believe the earth is flat. So if you can’t convince them it’s round and you can’t fall off the edge, no way they buy the mueller report.
