trump vetoes National Defense Authorization Act. Unfortunately for him, the bill passed both houses with supermajorities that allow them to override the veto, if they choose to vote again next week against the veto.

he's a disgrace. Now add the military to the growing list of people that rightfully are going to hate this asshole.
It'll be interesting to see what comes of the knowledge that his veto can be overridden. Will GOP members be willing to do so?

I think we have slipped past the "please trump because he might have a chance at a second term" stage. We are creeping towards "GOP moving on to save their own skin" phase.

I think they vote to veto.

I don't even think it would be about his chance at a second term as much as 1) some of them just love to make him happy and/or are scared of a mean tweet and 2) the GOP base is still in Trump Cult form and that's who they're trying to please.
yes, that is definitely the main element. but I would think his influence is starting to wane.

Hey I’m just hoping he pressures Mitch to authorize the $2000 stimulus checks and destroys McConnels career.  At least that will be one good deed in four years, better late than never.

Ha.  I have a buddy who loves Nicole Wallace.  He can look past her past transgressions of working in the the GWB White House since she has seen the light.

Although her grilling Christie about what he looked past in regards to Trump, somebody could say she looked past a lot in the Bush43 WH.

You can get distracted by Charlie Kushner and Paulie Walnuts all you want.

This is all I need to know. From today's WAPO

President Trump granted a pardon Wednesday to a former Prince George’s County canine police officer who was convicted of a federal civil rights violation for releasing her police dog on an unarmed homeless man in 1995.

A federal jury convicted Stephanie C. Mohr in 2001 on a felony charge after prosecutors said she set her dog to bite one of two men police stopped during a search for burglars in Takoma Park.

White House officials released a statement saying Mohr’s clemency is supported by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund and the Fraternal Order of Police.

The republicans killed it..not a surprise.  If Trump vetoes I would like to see the Dems demand it as a condition to override the veto.

    Greetings All  and Merry Christmas!

As I continue to watch Trump being the most corrupt POTUS in history... I wanted to get some feedback from some Americans on here.

While it's easy to blame Trump for all that he has done.. do any of you share some of the blame with the general legalities in general?  Like ok, it's bad that he's giving out pardons like presents... but do you as Americans blame each government before for allowing this technicality to be allowed? It's striking to me that a Bush, Clinton, Obama didn't think to themselves... "OK, this is too much power for one elected person."

And also, do you expect Biden to change some of these policies?  It would be a President taking away Presidential powers, which seems unlikely even though it also seems like the right thing to do.

It's not a technicality, it's in the US constitution.   There's no way to change it, unless there's a consensus among states to amend the constitution.

Has anyone tried to get the ball rolling on amending it?  I was gonna say, I recall hearing a lot about 'amendments' to said constitution. :)

No, they havent to my knowledge.

The idea is predicated on the assumption it wouldn't be abused by a president. As is most of the powers for each branch enumerated in the Articles......

One big difference between this president and all the others is that he is just handing them out as he sees fit rather then utilizing the Presidential Pardon office.
