Trump, who will make sure we immediately have normal life begin again. Kids in school, tailgating at football games, no masks, rallies, etc...It's baffling. 210,000 people have died but Trump (is tricking them into believing that he) has gotten better quickly so they're like "pfffft...it's nothing; an inconvenient four days." I think the following things play into it: The cult-like devotion to Trump; the ignorance of data in favor of anecdotes (that tell the story they hope to hear); unwillingness to admit to being wrong about anything ever; just plain lack of critical thinking.
And, just to look like a tough guy, Trump is telling people that it was no big deal; people that he knows would follow him off of a cliff. This might be the most irresponsible thing he's ever done (though the competition for that distinction is quite fierce).
I have heard the anecdote about the person in hospice with Cancer who got covid while dying and the death counted as a Covid death like 50 times, whether its an Aunt, Grandpa, Friend's dad, friend who works in a hospital told me, etc.
So they do not believe it is 210,000. They believe its roughly in line with the flu. Now Trump going down for a few days and "felling better than he has in 20 years" will just confirm that.Scio me nihil scire

An article I read this morning got me to worrying, something I rarely do (OK, that last part is totally false, haha!) HOw likely are these things to happen?
"There is now a very real danger of a vicious cycle. Desperation fuels Trump’s unpopularity, which triggers more desperation. Americans are already exhausted by October surprises, and the nation is only five days into the month. The calendar is unfurling towards the 3 November vote with a president who has little to lose from gambling.
The principal victims of his lack of empathy so far have been the concentric circles of supporters around him. In the coming weeks the collateral damage from his panic is likely to spread further afield. The president is already openly calling his supporters to gather at the polls as “watchers” on election day, and primed them to expect a vote rigged against their leader.
No one doubts now that he would take chaos and bloodshed over defeat, and the implications may not stop at the nation’s shore, with the greatest fear being a combination of a foreign adversary seeking to exploit a weakened administration, and a commander in chief ready to do anything to avoid looking weak."

I’m starting to think this is Team Trump Treason Tax Cheat’s way out. He knows he’s going to lose the election. He knows he’s broke and the billionaire facade is crumbling. He knows he’s going to jail after he leaves office. He knows Melania doesn’t love him and that the people he associates with despise him and that he’ll never be accepted at the “wealthy elite” level because of who and what he is (imagine having to spend time with “friends” like Lindsey Flimsy Flip Flop Faloozy Graham and Matt Getts, who would have punched him on the playground). What better way to go out than be a POTUS who died while in office “fighting for the ‘Murican people?” Every other option is much less than that and so much more humiliating, pathetic and painful. The glory of the funeral procession, burial in Palm Springs at his golf club, all the elites having to say nice things and give accolades and the steady stream of deplorables paying respect. What better way is there for Team Trump Treason Tax Cheat to leave the WH?09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. There probably have been some cases where someone had a terminal condition and COVID was attributed as the cause of death, but IMO the excess mortality rate for the US in 2020 speaks for itself.

If you have not seen "The Comey Rule" on Showtime I highly recommend it. Even if you have to subscribe to the channel for one month it is worth it. It's a two episode (total of 4 hours) docudrama about the days leading up to the election through when Comey testified to Congress after he was fired.
You are likely familiar with the main story but seeing it develop behind the scenes was very interesting.
Conclusions:
Reince Preibus is a fucking piece of shit.
Rod Rosenstein let himself get walked on by tRump.
Jeff Sessions is a complete pussy who let tRump walk all over him.
I'm still not sure how to view Comey but it does give some narrative as to why he felt like what he did was necessary.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

The thing with the count is dipshits that want to subtract every case with underlying conditions instead of applying some tiny bit of logic. They also love to ignore the fact that disease and death are monetized for both noble and despicable causes.0

Spot on... plenty of people can live productive lives with asthma, diabetes, mild obesity & many other conditions.... but I've seen many conservative pundits suggest these are co-morbidities which shouldn't count as covid deaths...At the end of the day, it's just one more conservative talking point aimed at minimizing the impact of a virus that's turning out to be a pretty frigging major mass mortality event for this country (4th largest if I'm not mistaken?).
