Because Cohen's testimony is damning in some respects but ...to those that don't think Trump did anything wrong or don't want him to be in trouble for it even if he did...it's just the words of a slimy lawyer that has done lots of crooked things his entire life and has already lied to Congress. Maybe puppet is the wrong word, but “caught up in the Trump celebrity world” suggests passing the blame to an extent. Like saying yeah, I made the decision to drive, but I was drunk, so my decision were “caught up” in the drunkenness.
