see, this is the issue with things being taken out of context. after reading what he was reacting to, it doesn't seem to me to be something that only a criminal would say. he was saying once a special counsel is appointed to investigate a president, his presidency is ground to a halt, effectively "ending" said presidency.

Please. He had a repub congress for two years and had he lead, could have had a ton of legislation passed. Or, had everyone involved been truthful, Team Mueller would have been finished in six months. It’s not the reaction of someone who is innocent, particularly if,
“There was no collusion.”
”I don’t know any Russians.” ”I have nothing to hide.” ”I’ll sit down and talk to anyone.” ”We do everything by the book.”
“Only the guilty plea the fifth.”
“Very legal, very cool.”
“Fully exonerated.”
Follow the money, from Russia with love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment.

The Special Counsel was appointed to look into Russia's interference with the 2016 election. As the President, his response should have been 'hell yeah, let's get those bastards for messing with our country'. Why would he think that he personally would be f"ked if there was nothing connected to him. Why would that end his presidency?
In another section Trump his fuming about the SC and says (paraphrased) that the investigation was not allowing him to do things with the Russians, he wanted to do things with the Russians... if I'm being generous I could attribute your interpretation to that statement. But not to considering that a cyber attack on the US should be ignored and the investigation was horrible for him.
And he has not to this day actually acknowledged that the Russians did what they did.
(I'm sure Halifax can give you the actual quote of my second paragraph, I can't go look back at the document at the moment).

I honestly think it's possible that he was/is so ignorant as to the powers of the presidency that he thought being investigated meant he had legislative shackles on him.

According to the report, "The President returned to the consequences of the appointment and said, 'Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency. It takes years and years and I won't be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.'"

the bigger story is that Trump TRIED to obstruct justice, but only didn't because those he asked to carry out his bidding refused to do so, knowing full well it was illegal.

I see that msnbc has had that splashed across their screen for an hour, acting like it's a smoking gun lol
488 pages and thats the story?
same with CNN.

I think that he might have been saved by the people around him on many occasions.

In law, efforts like this are also criminal. Thus, we get charged of attempted murder; we don’t say “the victim didn’t die so it’s all okay”. People get charged with attempting to break the law all the time. It’s not like they should be rewarded for incompetency.
my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf

so if mueller believes trump tried to obstruct justice, does that mean he'll be charged after leaving office?

Cohen received a text mesasage in October 2016 from a Russian businessman that said (paraphrased), "to stop the tapes............" and he informed Team Trump Treason. The businessman was later told the tapes were fake, didn't exist and that this information was not relayed to Cohen. Why then, if the tapes didn't exist, according tot eh Russian businessman, and Team Trump Treason didn't participate in the allegations, would he ask Comey or bring it up with Comey? Me thinks theire's a greater chance that the tape exists. Remember Helsinki? But a sidebar of endless entertainment.

That's why Mueller gave the information to Congress because he stuck with the Justice Department 'rule' that a sitting President cannot be indicted and to accuse without charging would not be fair to the President. (the last page of the obstruction section - again, can't get to document atm)
Something that Barr said was not considered at all in his news conference this morning.
Yeah, I 'd love to see underneath those blacked out sections.
Also why I'm not printing it out - my toner wouldn't make it past the first redaction. And my wifi sucks so that's why I can't get to the document - laptop is running like it's on dial-up.
Before you go to print... “Only the guilty plea the fifth.”
Is it "plea" or "plead?"
