Fed the misinformation by Team Mueller—which it has every right and duty to if it will flush out crimes—Trump would be inclined to embrace fake facts and use them in an effort to escape responsibility for his conduct.
If I’m right about this, it may become crucial for state-level prosecutors in New York, Virginia, and the District of Columbia to indict Manafort sooner rather than later for felonies that he admitted under oath in his now broken cooperation agreement with Mueller.
That way, if Trump pardons Manafort, or grants him clemency, state authorities can arrest him before he is released from federal custody, closing any window of opportunity he might use to flee the country.

Impeachment may be impossible, but the goal is to shine a light at what trump did as a private citizen to allegedly steal the presidency by using foreign intelligence assets as a weapon against his opponent.

I'm very much like you. The "THE FIELD" next to my name indicates that; I've never thought impeachment was likely. I still don't. I don't think whatever comes out of the investigation will matter. The haters already hate, the lovers will love unconditionally, and the indifferent will remain indifferent. Like you, I think the left under-estimates Trump's popularity. I also think the left over-estimates the ability American People, the GOP, and the media to put the good of the country over the good of a party and of a madman who has captured nearly half the country for reasons they don't even recall.
I am negative. I am cynical. I believe it's realistic that we could be in year 2 of 30 (Don, Don Jr, Ivanka, Eric each with two terms).

I speak from experience, so trust me on this: you'll feel much better if you don't worry about them. They'll probably be disappointed by the outcome. So be it. For my part, I just try to enjoy life and not get too on-edge about the day-to-day because I know whatever happens remains a long way off. Let the optimistic "he's going down" crowd be optimistic. I sincerely can't determine whether he is so narcissistic that he thinks he's just that much more clever than... everyone... or if he's just a f**king moron that was fast tracked to fame and fortune by his pappy.

I think his biggest problem is he is very uneducated on the issues he is supposed to be leading the US on. It's my feel he's too lazy to really spend the time to understand and he takes the position suggested to him by someone he admires. Then when he's forced to explain or defend his position... he stammers away like an idiot because he hasn't developed the depth of understanding necessary to articulate it.

Impeachment may be impossible, but the goal is to shine a light at what trump did as a private citizen to allegedly steal the presidency by using foreign intelligence assets as a weapon against his opponent.
If he starts pardoning everyone and / or uses Whitaker as a biased weapon to shut everything down, and the State AGs have to indict everyone, this will create a very toxic climate for trump as the 2020 campaign starts to kick in full gear next year
Especially if the House starts to uncover and publicize hard evidence of criminal behavior

I am negative. I am cynical. I believe it's realistic that we could be in year 2 of 30 (Don, Don Jr, Ivanka, Eric each with two terms).
And, my god, you're bringing me down. That's saying a lot.
There are older posts by me expressing frustration at the left "waiting for the impeachment fairy." Anecdotally, there are people who have been on the edge of their seats since inauguration day, expecting America to come to its senses and somehow get them out of there. I speak from experience, so trust me on this: you'll feel much better if you don't worry about them. They'll probably be disappointed by the outcome. So be it. For my part, I just try to enjoy life and not get too on-edge about the day-to-day because I know whatever happens remains a long way off. Let the optimistic "he's going down" crowd be optimistic. Doesn't impact you. Once I stopped worrying about them, this whole thing became much more manageable.
