Lately I've heard a few pro-impeachment people say, "That would be great but if he is impeached I afraid the country will break out in civil war."

I honestly think that's nearly absurd.  Yes, there may be incidences of random violence (what else is new in America?), but give the average American the choice between going out and doing actual battle or staying home and watching Monday Night Football and stuffing themselves of Cheese Doodles and cheap beer, what are they going to choose?  I just don't see it.

"Hey Marge, I think I'm gonna go out and join the Pro Trump militia."

"But Fred, remember, today they have a special on Doritos and Ding Dongs at Walmart.  Should we really miss that?"

"Nawww, you're right Marge.  Let's get in the truck and load up on goodies!"

Civil war in America?  I don't think so.
    I love Ding Dongs!

So how is Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts going to feel about participating in a sham trial in the Senate?

Fox News: McConnell: 'No chance' Trump will be removed from office

I'm seeing chatter that McConnell should be removed from the process.  It sure seems like an oath has been violated but this admin is so fucked up anything goes.

The foreman of the jury should not get to decide the rules of the trial with the defendant's lawyers.

John Roberts should OVERSEE this process.  Convict this MF.  then you can pardon him and I can get on with my life.

I am not as knowledgable on many of these issues as some, BUT when:

•Mitch McConnell claims to not have paid any attention to any of the public hearings in November.

•Then, in December before the Senate has a chance to act as a jury, says there is "no way Buffoon will be removed".

He, and anyone with such an outspoken premature decision should be removed from the vote.

"Hi. I'm here to serve on a jury as the Senate leader for a case in which I have admittedly refused to neither see nor hear any evidence in any fair or unbiased stance. Therefore, I would like to render a verdict of not guilty in favor of the defendant. Thank you and let the shamwitchhunthoax begin while I get to working on the next level of Candy Crush. This candy will not crush itself!"

I guess I'm befuddled by the Democrats.  They can't hold focus on a strategy for more then three days before changing an approach based on what their focus group data is telling them.  They have had soooo much time and here we are in the downstretch already.

None of that is criminal so the statement that "he gets away with it" is unusual to me.

I also don't understand this.  What strategy has changed?  From teh beginning, Pelosi said they would go for a narrow impeachment.  That's what they did, two articles.  I think they have stayed the course unless I'm missing some obvious left turn.

Trump will be "acquitted" in the Senate and use that as a campaigning tool for 2020, and his undecided voters from 2016 will lap it up. 4 more years of this unhinged fool and I'm not sure where we'll be.

Good thing u used the quotes because it will not be an acquittal.  Just not a removal is all.

With the Senate Majority Leader coordinating and rigging the trial with the defendant, there can be no honest trial in the Senate. This means there will be no exoneration. No exoneration is possible.

I think I'd be ok if the articles were not sent to the Senate unless and until there will clearly be an honest trial. It's rigged right now and that's more corruption we don't need. Just keep investigating. He'll likely do some new corruption too...can't help himself. Being humiliated should teach him to stop what he's doing but he won't listen. He wanted to be impeached so bad and proved it by not listening to all the warnings he got.
