Who had doubts? Who believed? Look in the mirror.
I don't see him ever resigning unless it's to make a deal to stay out of jail. he is a narcissist in the classic sense and in my opinion honestly believes he's doing an amazing job, is the best president ever, and has done nothing wrong. that type of person doesn't step down willingly.
I can see him not seeking reelection and claiming something ridiculous like "I've done more in one term than any president did in two in the history of this great nation, so there's no need for me to continue".I think he will seek re-election because he is like a dysfunctional child in a classroom who has learned that acting act brings him the attention- in his case both the negative attention from those who can't stand him and the positive attention from those who as dysfunctional as he is- that he so desperately craves.I still hold to the notion that we are stuck with him until the next election and unless this country really doesn't give a flying fuck about going completely to hell (we're already close), the dems better get it together and groom a candidate that is far better and can win an election."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

While embarrassing to the country to impeach a President, it is still a shining example to the world of our democracy and that even a president is not immune from its laws. It would be a step in the right direction of rehabbing the US's image.

He resigns
He get's primary'd (spelling?), which at that point, he might as well resign
He loses in 2020
As much as I want to say that there is zero percent chance Mitch McConnell would kick him out of office, at some point he does more harm than good and if there are receipts, it's at that point, so you never know. Still think the 3 options up there are most likely
For the first time in a long time I see an end to this nightmare.
Looking at these outcomes:
He resigns or is impeached/removed
He get's primaried (That's my guess at the spelling)
He loses in 2020
He wins in 2020- The party is protecting him and has proven it will until the bitter end. 40% of the population is his base (probably the most disheartening thing to come out of all this for me) and will either not believe any negative stories or not care. I'd say there's a 1% chance he does not finish term 1. (.5% if Muller is still working on this during the 2020 election, which I think is possible).
- Primaried is a long shot. I'd say someone will try, but if it's more than one person, they'll just split the vote. And he's over 85% with Republicans. His base is republicans. I don't think he's beatable there. Less than 1%
- Loses in 2020? Possible. Nobody is going to bring the hate/baggage that Hillary did. Still, the Dems don't have a deep bench. 2018 was a decent sign. I'd say 48% chance he loses.
- Wins in 2020. We keep underestimating him. 50% chance he's inaugurated in 2021. (This is me stepping away from the edge...until recently, the idea of him not being president for eight years had not really occurred to me.

1- 30% of his 40% support is considered his base. The other 10% are the one's who can be swayed--the one's who held their nose and voted for him. That is why you've seen his approval rating dip into the mid 30%'s from time to time. You're entitled to your opinion but 1% is asinine. There are currently even odds on him leaving office due to impeachment/resignation. After the news of the last 24 hours, I'd imagine these odds will be even better.
2-There is no chance in hell he doesn't get renominated if he runs again. When people talk about primarying him, they are talking about hurting him enough politically that it carries over into the general election. This is what Pat Buchannon did to G HW Bush in '92.
3/4-The odds of him losing the general election are literally higher than any other president. You're right he won't be running against the second worst candidate of all time. He will also be the only president in history to run for re-election without ever having an approval rating above 50% (his max was around 46% the day he took office--that is horrendous). Ever. A majority of the country has never supported him and categorically rejected him just a few months ago. He is also the only president in history, that I'm aware of, who has not made any effort to attract voters outside of his base.
This is all moot because he will have resigned by this time next year anyway.

And after all that has transpired to this point, we still don’t know the “why.” Why has everyone reported to have dealings with Russians lied about those dealings? What are they hiding or what’s transpired that they couldn’t just be honest about it? This is Team Mueller’s $100MM question.

Venezuelan President Maduro gives U.S. diplomats 72 hours to leave after U.S. recognizes opposition leader as interim president
BREAKING NEWS: Maduro’s move to expel U.S. diplomatic personnel comes after the Trump administration called Maduro an “usurper” and recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as the nation’s interim president.

I wonder what reasonable person talked him into this move? They must have caught him when he was particularly pliable.I'm really not sure if it's a great political move or not, but it is a more moral one, although that wouldn't be Trump's motivation. So what is??? .... It's possible that he hasn't given it any thought at all and just told Pence to "take care of it" or whatever, who the hell knows??Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
