if Cruz was a democrat that you liked, you'd never mention his appearance.
My mother, God rest her soul, was never too interested in politics. But in 2016, she provided a pretty sound opinion of Cruz that I feel many Americans, and nearly all the members of congress, would agree with.....

Kind of feel that way about Paul Stanley post creatures of the night.

I have always felt that, if she were a man and possessed the same qualities, she would have won in 2016 hands down.

Ask someone why they don't like her and there is never a real answer like she supported caging children at the border or she was cheating on her husband flagrantly. It's always an answer like she's so corrupt, she's in wall street's pocket, she's such a bitch, she has no personality, she's shrill. I think that says a lot about how we view males and females in possessions of power.

Where did I mention the word victim? That is a complete mischaracterization of what I wrote.

And there was an article written just this week that addressed the bias that women have stated about having a woman as a President.

You think there was no difference in how they were assessed? Trump said that he is able to grab pussies cause he's famous. That fizzled out . Hillary made a joke about baskets of deplorables at a dinner and was skewered for it. Trump fought with a gold star family and said that McCain was not hero, he liked people who didn't get captured. Hillary did not show a sense of humor in public and seemed robotic and that was disqualifying.

She is no victim, she is a strong woman. Much stronger, smarter and competent than Trump could ever hope to be.

That is my opinion, which I am allowed to have in equal measure to everyone on the AMT.

Do not try to dismiss it or add words that I did not use. People can disagree without being disagreeable. Try it.

David Rivkin* on Erin Burnett on CNN and PBS News Hour tonight was really going to bat heavy and hard for CYA Barr. What are they hiding? David Priess was going to bat heavy and hard for the Constitution and Team Mueller. If you can catch it tomorrow, as it seems they post the broadcasts the following day, otherwise I would have linked, I recommend that you do. Bigger than Watergate, much bigger. Which side will you be on?

*Full disclosure: Rivkin was born in the USSR and may be feeling some latent loyalty to the Motherland.

And let’s not forget about the NRA being subpoenaed and sent letters to preserve all documents and that they spent $30MM on Team Trump Treason’s campaign. Meanwhile, house oversight committee hires a preeminent financial crimes investigator.

I have always felt that, if she were a man and possessed the same qualities, she would have won in 2016 hands down.
I vehemently disagree with this. I think her being a woman was one of the best things she had going for her. Made her different and unique to a degree. If you take away that, then she's just another Mitt Romney; someone with experience and a good resume...who is boring, robotic, and unlikeable.

In my time of following Presidential elections, the "cooler" person has won every single time, experience and policy be damned:

1992: Clinton cooler than Bush Sr.
    1996: Clinton cooler than Dole.
2000: Bush Jr. cooler than Gore
2004: Bush Jr. cooler than Kerry
    2008: Obama cooler than McCain
    2012: Obama cooler than Romney
    2016: Trump cooler than Clinton

Right? McCain was a war hero and decades-long senator. That used to be what it took to be the president. But Obama was cooler. He plays basketball and hangs with Jay Z. Who cares if he was a one-term senator? Same with Trump. No experience, totally evil. But to some, his antics were entertaining enough to like him. And for some reason, people are passionate about voting for Trump. Concerning Hillary, I think a lot of her voters held the same view I did: "Well I guess I have to vote for her." Hardly someone many people were passionate about.

In the end, Hillary, unlike her husband, just isn't a good politician. And remember there's a difference between "politician" and "civil servant." To politic is simply to persuade people, and in an election, it's to persuade people to like you. That's not in her wheelhouse. As a civil servant, she was fine as a senator and secretary of state. But a lot of times that doesn't win elections. That's why Trump, despite everything that's wrong with him, was successful. He's been selling himself for decades.

He's been selling himself for decades.
excellent point. so sloppy joe doesn't stand a chance then.

Interesting.  I agree with all of this post, with the exception of the bold (and some uncertainty about the italicized).

No question it's a popularity contest.  And you can take it back even further (Reagan cooler than his opponents...probably back to JFK, with the exception of Bush I, since neither guy was cool and Carter, who won simply for not being in Nixon's party.  Maybe LBJ, but he was connected to JFK).  That said, I think Hillary was hurt by being a woman.  The primary baggage she brought was 25+ years of being hated; a villain to the right and probably even to moderates.  And this started the moment Bill became a household name. A motivated, ambitious woman was about to be in the role that's supposed to be June Cleaver.  And it just snowballed.  And I don't think she'd have been so hated for so long if she'd been a male.

It was a perfect storm. I don't know that people that Trump was "cool" (cooler than Hillary by default, perhaps).  But I do think they were sick of the same ol' same ol' -- Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton with only one other name snuck in there was kinda tough to swallow.  You're right...if she'd been a better politician, she'd have probably won.  You're right that a lot of people probably held their noses, or at least shrugged their shoulders, and voted for Hillary.  But the margin was razor-thin.  And her history of being villainized was difference-making and I have my doubts whether that history could have happened to a male; certainly not for being smart, driven, and ambitious.

Conservative Christians (whom are almost exclusively Republican) are taught that women are second class citizens; or at least not equal to men.  Being a woman helped Clinton with some voters (54% of female voters), but it absolutely hurt Clinton's chances as well (lost 53% of white women), just as being a man helped Trump.

Why would Team Trump Treason need to do this? Particularly if,

    “There was no collusion.”
    “I have nothing to hide.”
    “I don’t know any Russians.”
“I’ll sit down and talk with anyone.”
“We do everything by the book.”
“Only the guilty plea the fifth.”
    “Very legal, very cool.”
    “Fully exonerated.”
