Back in the good ol' days when I thought Muller's investigation might amount to something...as it started to drag on, I would joke that it would show that Trump was Putin's puppet, but not until his second term...

...IF (and that's a huge if) anything substantive comes from this, it looks like it actually will be during his second term.
why would it be during his second term?
Because of how slowly it's all moving.  We're like 19 months out from election.  It looks like nothing in this report is going to directly lead to anything. So,
14 ongoing investigations that continue with 12 of them redacted in Team Mueller’s report. Yea, forgotten about by tomorrow.

We're looking at waiting out some other stuff.  Anything of value may very well come out after November, 2020.
Team Trump Treason will be disgraced like Nixon.
I don't know. I don't think his followers will ever come to reality like Nixon's did.  Or the party.  The red/blue thing today is just different.  Red will never, ever stop protecting Trump.
The information in the Team Mueller report and what will come out in hill hearings will be campaign fodder. I can see the senate flipping.

Senate has 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats (including two independents).

There are 34 seats up in 2020 - including a special election in Arizona - of which 22 are held by the GOP.

Democrats will need to gain 3 or 4 seats to take control.

Strong chance D's take the Senate in 2020.
Senate's always going to be tough for the dems.  Two per state...the right is way over-represented in the senate.

So why the plea deal for Flynn?

On going investigations redacted so as not to expose sources and methods, one or more of the 14 ongoing investigations. And because Flynn recognized the gig was up and got a deal, spilled his guts and told the truth. Don’t forget, Flynn’s son was looking at having his life ruined in his early 20s.

A nice summary by the NY Times. I'd add an eighth: the 14 other referrals Mueller made--meaning there are still many ongoing investigations that spell doom to Trump, most notably what's happening in the SDNY. We need Mueller to testify and we need the SDNY to hurry the hell up

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/18/us/politics/mueller-report-pdf-takeaways.html

    1. Trump did try to sabotage the investigation. His staff defied him.

    2. So many lies. So many changed stories.

    3. Fake news? Not so much.

    4. No obstruction? Not so fast.

    5. Evading an F.B.I. interview proved a successful strategy.

    6. No conclusive evidence of conspiracy, but lots of reason to investigate.

    7. Imagine reading this report cold.

They don’t need to hurry up because they won’t charge a sitting POTUS. However, they can indict and frog march third party peripheral suspects like Jared Dear Boy, Donny Jr. and Ivanka Daarlink. That would ratchet up the pressure but for the really big booby prize, Team Trump Treason, we’re patiently waiting for January 20, 2021 or for impeachment and removal from office. People are going to greatly regret being associated with this crime family.

I have read that the SDNY might indict him despite what he dept of justice says. They could also seal an indictment for when he leaves office. And then, as you mention, they could indict family members...all of which could open the window to some kind of deal about him resigning to make all the legal problems go away.

Plus even if they don't indict, what happens when they finish the investigation? I would assume they issue a report of some sort on it's findings which would also help with impeachment efforts.

SDNY, DCD and EDVA will issue sealed indictments against Team Trump Treason, waiting for the last possible moment to file them so as not to lose based on statue of limitations. Peripheral third parties will be indicted as the evidence allows and if the AGs believe crimes have been committed and they believe they have enough evidence for a conviction. Slow and steady wins the race.

If Impeaching Trump Is Pointless, Then Bipartisanship Is Worthless

If there is no bipartisan consensus on upholding the rule of law, then bipartisan consensus is not an end worth pursuing. If the Republican Party can’t be trusted to even consider putting its allegiance to lawfulness above its fealty to Donald Trump, then the GOP is a cancer on the body politic. And if our Constitution has brought us to the point where a non-democratically elected president can promise “Get Out of Jail Free” cards to anyone who violates laws he does not like — without facing any serious threat of removal from office — then our Constitution is obsolete and there is no cause for treating that document, or the established norms of our institutions, with reflexive reverence.

But isn't Mitt factually wrong? In what way could it be it insufficient evidence to charge the president when Mueller or whoever even can't charge the president due to DoJ guidelines? Right?

He can only let congress decide from the evidence he put in the report - which he did put in the report of obstruction -- and that is why people are now calling for impeachment procedures?

Or what am i missing Mitt Romney and @mcgruff10 ?

While Mittens appears ready to enjoy his scallops, perhaps with crab cakes, Toddler Team Trump Treason has pushed his away and opted for another serving of Fruit Loops.

I don’t think he is factually wrong but it all depends on your view of trump. I don’t like the guy but I don’t want our country to be consumed with impeachment for the next two years, There are way too many problems to solve in this country.  To me the case is closed. No obstruction, no collusion, time to move on.

Where did you get the “no obstruction” part from, other than Trump himself?

Saying there was insufficient evidence to charge the president when no one can charge a sitting president due to DoJ guidelines, would be factually wrong... wouldn't it? What has it do with Trump?

And the political process of impeachment is up to congress to decide on, and not Mueller through the report.

And isn't it a weird position to have "I don't want our country to be consumed by impeachment, so when a report point out the President acted in a impeachable way we should set the precedent for the future to not do jack-shit because of not being consumed by impeachment because of reasons"

And if you say the case is closed and no obstruction -- then I guess you didn't read the report but instead maybe got the jist of it from Sean Hannity  after bumping into him during an elevator ride?
