Started Squid Game season 1 last week…. Up to episode 8, been hearing about it for a while and I guess it’s like popping bubble wrap, am I crazy or watching people get whacked on a game show is stress reducing 🤣 with the exception of a few…. Great show, looking forward to season 2
Ooh, didn't notice they had released a 2nd season. I'll have to watch that. I enjoyed the first season. Keri Russel is good in roles like that. The Americans was fantastic. This isn't quite on that level, but entertaining nonetheless.
I didn't quite like the first episode and gave up.....but I LOVED The Americans. Guess I should give it another shot.
This new Deniro series looks pretty good
Americans was an intense thriller. Diplomat is almost like a dramedy.

The Black Hawk Down documentary is really good. Hearing from both the Americans and Somalians that were there.
I thought that was really cool. I'm curious how they got to interview the Somalians. I'm guessing just contracted out some locals to find them and interview them. Still pretty interesting to hear both sides.
Watched episode 1 last night. We were just going to watch the first 10 minutes then go to bed because it was getting late when we started. Ended up watching the whole episode..

That poor girl...and the whole idea of the police talking about arresting her for assault is crazy. I know he had scratches but holy shit.

thats dv laws. and she admitted it. without the corroboration of the initial call to 911 of him slapping her.
might have thought his admission to locking her out of the vehicle would have sparked a question as to ownership.....
on the whole I thought they handled it well given what each said. who knows , maybe if she got arrested that would have saved her life? given her time to find the thing to leave?

maybe...sad that she called her ex boyfriend and he missed her call. He wonders if that conversation may have led to her still being alive.
I guess a theory is that Brian saw her text communications with him and flipped out.

Yeah I feel like not enough was spoken about this girl's life. Not to judge but it seemed like college wasn't a consideration, moving with this dude to NC and then with his family in FL. Like what in this girl's life has her doing this? Not trying to victim blame but I found this doc nothing more than chronological, which is no doubt wild but that and voyeurism to see it all play out is all I got out of it.
For sure more should have been talked about regarding the boyfriend's family as well.
And then they quickly hit on something like 40/45% of these situations happen to minorities and are never reported - let alone get on the news. And then Gabby's dad talks about it very briefly, like he couldn't believe that what was being talked about as his daughter was missing, but then comes around to the idea and agrees? That part happened so quickly I couldn't actually decipher if that's the point they were making.
Lastly, and I'm probably in the minority on this, but I felt like the national park/Utah? Police at the scene when they pulled the car over actually handled the situation...well? They seemed to talk through everything, consider all situations given the law, and try to talk to each of these people in what they need to do.
If anything fuck those Florida cops? It seemed like they didn't want to be bothered with shit until forced to be like "hey asshole this is Gabbys, the person missing's van, on these peoples property." Just reinforces my hate of Florida lol

Taking off out west in a van is kind of its own experience though. I can see the parents giving her room to figure things out. Obviously hind sight kicks in now but my youngest didn't really want to go to college and we didn't press her.

Oh no question, agree, all about figuring it out. It just seemed to have a lot holes - even regarding the dude's family - before we even get out West.
