NYC 2 - So what was screamed out that pissed off Ed?

Did anybody hear this comment - right before No War, Ed was started his introduction and talked a bit about Tomas Young, and some guy up front hollered something that was offensive, I'm assuming...Ed looked up and said "I didn't hear that." Then he started to play No War, then stopped and said, "oh I'm not feeling it"...the crowd encouraged him and he got it together and played the song and it felt like we were singing it extra loud in defiance of whatever insult this jerk had screamed out...but my seatmate and I totally felt a shift in the mood. Anybody else recognize what I'm talking about? Don't want to spend too much time on this negative subject but just wonder if anyone heard it?

Right around that same time there were a bunch of douche bags in the balcony shouting "Hunger Strike" and "Lets go Yankees".

If looks could kill (namely mine) the world would have a few less A-holes today!

I agree. It was someone more up front. I was orch row b far right and it sounded as if it was coming from about 10 rows in front of me. I noticed Ed's head turn slightly to his left when it was yelled out. I didn't hear what was said either, but it almost got him. Glad he continued on with it.

His mood totally changed after that, I was up front in HH, and it sound like something like "Blah blah blah IRAQ" (i couldnt make it out, as i heard other people yelling), but that was the direction he was looking at. so i am pretty sure it was that comment

But there was definitely something specific that he heard that almost set him off. I couldn't hear it, but I could see the mood shift--the way he said (I'm paraphrasing) "you can sing along if you'd like, or do whatever if you don't" before No More sounded quite angry.

  • Regardless of whatever was said, I'm sure he found it offensive. I found it offensive that the introduction of the song was ruined, and that moment was probably supposed to be heartfelt and meaningful for him (at least the song was for me).

I understand that everyone has different political views. Some of you may not share Ed's opinion about the war or appreciate the content of the song. But isn't that what music and art does, stir emotions and issues?

Considering we are all at the show and fans of him as an artist, shouldn't we LET HIM EXPRESS HIMSELF AS AN ARTIST without interruption?

sry for the bit of rant, but i was really bothered by certain people's comments before No War, and Ed's cover of "Here's To The State of Mississippi." I don't they understand the power and seriousness of those songs and what it means for our country to be at war for so many years.

Ed couldnt tell what the guy said. Neither could I. He basically just screamed.

I remember someone yelling "You cant put food on your family" and he had bad timing on that...must of felt like an ass

The no War intro thing really pissed Ed off, he then said he wasn't in the mood to play the song, then finally gave in

He also said when people scream out just about anything...when it gets to him its always "I'm an Idiot"...I thought that was kinda funny

I go with that idea. It sounded like the dude was saying Fragglerock...which made me giggle :)

What kind of mindless fucktard do you have to be to make a comment like that before (of all songs) "No More"?

Eddie obviously has alot of emotional investment in that song due to his relationship with Thomas Young, and I'm suprised that he didn't just throw down his fucking guitar and walk off the stage.

You guys are very lucky that he didn't...actually the douchebag pig fucking swine that yelled out the comment is lucky because he probably would have gotten the holy shit beat out of him by everyone in the audience.

I didn't think that anyone could be that stupid.

I wish these half wits would do the world a favor and just stay at home

Exactly, especially when that person could have just as easily yelled out something like 'boom is unnecessary' instead, which would have resulted in nothing more than a few laughs ;).....and lighten up, the guy is an adult and doesn't need to storm off the stage due to a few immature comments..

some azzho shouted "fragle rock" when ed said something about iraq before no more war

I totally heard Fraggle rock too. I don't understand why people feel the need to yell stuff like that.

I'm a jamily elitist I guess, but I'd prefer it if those people didn't come to the show.

The worst part is that he was talking about Tomas Young when the guy yelled something. Political disagreements are one thing, but I think we can all agree that veterans deserve respect. That was really disrespectful and it definitely caused tension.

EDIT: Eddie didn't even finish the story about Tomas, which I thought was sad.

and where were YOU last night?? ;)

yea I hear that tho...we should be able to distinguish by now the difference and show a bit more respect...I loved the fact during porch some tall ass chick kept standing up a few rows in front of us so our section started with me SIT THE FUCK DOWN ASSHOLE!!!..and she ignored me...then everyone SIT DOWN BITCH!!!
and homegirl next to me says you aint sitting down?
    watch this
storms up to her in front of the soundboard and I swear she was gonna beat her ass..but told her to sit in a not so very nice manner and she did :D
    thank you hun!

Jesus Christ Champ!! are you still on about that Boom thing?

I'm just hoping that the Toronto crowd is a little more civilized and don't yell out stupid shit like that jackass from last night and jepordize the mood of the show.

I mean...you pay what?...$80.00? to go to this thing...only to yell out a moronic comment that ends up pissing both Eddie and the rest of the audience off.

I don't know...just sounds pretty stupid to me.

Politics probably won't be as present in the Canadian shows for obvious reasons...but Canada has its fair share of beer drinking frat boy clowns who'll probably play the part and yell out stupid shit as well.

    So whatever....

I just wish these waterheads would think for a second before they yell out this shit.

Afterall...Eddie is the one with the microphone and guitar...It's his stage...

If we wanted to hear what these genius frat boys had to say...we'd pay $80.00 to go see them as well.

So until they've got a microphone in their hands...I wished these dickbags would just sit back, drink their beer, and shut the fuck up.

    later.

Not everybody drinks before shows. And if you choose to, no problem, just be respectful of others. That's the real problem, no one gives a shit about anybody but themselves. Yelling and screaming at a concert is fine, at the appropriate times, but for true fans like most people on this board want to hear what Ed has to say. I honestly don't agree with Ed on alot of subjects, but I respect his opinion and welcome his views. Be good to each other.

I got last minute tickets up in the balcony and after pouting like a spoiled brat for a few minutes I realized that the sound up there was great, and I really REALLY enjoyed the show (you know, despite all the drunkies hollerin!)

    You goin tomorrow?

  • I found the yelling extremely annoying. Heard one guy behind me yell "play your fucking guitar" while Eddie was talking about Exxon Mobil. I also heard a group of douchebags complaining b/c EV only played "one" Pearl Jam song. I'm assuming they meant "Porch." They must have never listened to another PJ album beyond Ten b/c he played a few more PJ songs than just one.
  • Also, the guy on here who found shouting "Let's Go Rangers" amusing......not amusing
