Thoughts on TOTD tour ?

I thought shows were very good but could have been better , can't believe Eddie didn't show at all . The band sounded great but I thought chris wasn't as good as I was expecting . Very impressed with reach down .

The tour was about Andy Wood, not Eddie. Having the crowd sing Eddie's parts was beautiful.

Had we been able to make it to our show, I've no doubt I'd have felt exactly the same - grateful, not critical.

And, from what I've heard from friends who attended, THEY KICKED ASS.
  • Same sets are the norm not the exception. The band was tight and rockin' in Seattle. The appreciation I have for Your Savior now that I have heard it live is through the roof. I really liked how they did at least one song each of them could really shine on(not that they didn't for the whole show). Everything about the shows was stellar.
And Ed who? That's how much he needed to be there.

Your tellin me the show wouldn't be 10xs better if Ed was there , for some Zeppelin , Chloe chrown, hunger strike, even fuckin audioslave . Very blessed to see those shows . Not tryna be pesamistic

If ed showed it wouldn't have made a difference to me. It was a great rock show, and a great tribute to a fallen friend.

That's is exactly what I'm saying.
I feel a bit sad for those folks who feel like they missed out on something because Ed didn't show. To me that means they didn't get the full impact of how great those shows were or that they were star chasing.
Both the shows I got to go to blew my mind and melted my face. Can't ask for more than that.

I think the show I saw was pretty good without Ed. I really enjoyed the ToTD songs live. I never really liked much of the Mother Love Bone stuff so I'm not super familiar with those songs. I more or less enjoyed the ToTD songs and covers in the set.

I understand Ed not being there, but I also won't sweep under the rug that it was a ToTD show, and Ed co-vocal's on the biggest ToTD song there is. Hearing it without him isn't quite the same, so yah if was able to show up for it, it would of been cool, but the shows were still pretty good without him.

It does still leave hearing Hunger Strike as the proper duet on my holy grail list... something I really would like to knock off one day :)

Ed didn't know Andy, TOTD wasn't his band, he respectfully stepped aside.

Would I have enjoyed an encore appearance from him? Yes. Would it have changed the dynamic and possibly overshadowed portions of the main set? Yes, which is why it makes sense he stayed a spectator.

I thought it was a great show and it s obvious that the members of pj were very much challenged musically. Cornell has a great voice and is a wonderful front man.
Unlike Pearl Jam I was good with one show. I m not a fan of mother love bone but do admit the songs sounded great live.
Having ed show up would have been awesome.

Had a great time at both Philly shows. Really enjoyed hearing the Mother Love Bone songs that I had never had the opportunity to hear live before. I agree the crowd did a nice job singing Ed's parts there was no need for him to be there, he probably would have been more a a distraction than anything else.

Extremely happy I went and was able to see all of those songs performed

With that, I probably wouldn't go again. It's something I only needed to see once.

  • I thought it was amazing. I didn't know what exactly to expect, but I was blown away. I went to SF 2 and it was one of the best shows I've seen all year. Hopefully they'll tour again.
  • I thought it would've been weird if Ed had joined them. Why would he want to be a guest on his own bands stage? Let Chris join PJ any night if you want to hear Ed do his parts on Hunger Strike. But no need to on this nostalgia trip..

That being said I thought they were great. And hope they don't record an album with Chris. Any new PJ recording I want Ed singing. Period.
  • I thought the LA show was amazing. No need for Ed. No need to change up the set. What would you change? They played all the TOTD songs, great MLB songs, River of Deceit, Achilles, War Pigs... no need to change and had I gone to a second show I would have loved hearing all the songs again.

I love that people had no problem with Chris Cornell taking up stage time at pj20 but ed singing two songs with his own band on the totd tour would have been a tragedy lol. Wear your Cubs hat sheep.

  • Loved the Seattle shows, no set list complaints (they did one album), Cornell sounded better than he has in years.

  • Show exceeded expectations. Very cool to hear those songs live and to see PJ on a small stage (Philly). Of course it would have been awesome if Ed showed up but because he didn't, didn't make the show any less enjoyable.

Cornell sounded better than I expected. I think the same set list every night sucked some juice out of the later shows on the tour. People were practically trying to give tickets away for some of the west Coast shows it seemed. No problem with playing mostly the same songs every night, they only have one album....but at least mix up the order so there is some surprise and originality in each show! But it was a great night overall, band and Chris sounded great. Would see them again if they came around for sure.

I wonder if the juice you talk about is that people wanted EV to appear to sing in Hunger Strike.
