Strat o Matic and APBA are the big ones.

In strat o matic, you roll the dice and many results are on the cards.  You do get referred to various charts.

APBA, you roll and get a number and get referred to a book that gives you the result.

I actually still play strat o matic.

There are a few other good ones.  Replay Baseball and History Maker baseball.  IMO nothing is built as perfectly as Strat

It was definitely APBA that I had.

Was "bored" and tried to remember all the games that me and my sister had growing up. Here was my list.

    - Crossbows and Catapults (*)
    - Mousetrap
    - Uncle Wiggily
    - Parcheesi (*)
    - Sorry (*)

Code Names is a pretty good game for groups of people that don't play games often.   I played it for the first time during Thanksgiving and it took one practice game to get a good grip on the rules.

There are two teams with each team having a "spymaster".  The spymaster gives a one-word clue and state how many cards they think their team can pick based off that clue.  The spymasters use that card with all the squares to determine which cards are red team vs blue team.  Very easy for beginners to learn so I was certainly glad to play that instead of "Apples to Apples" which drives me nuts.  Game is pretty cheap too.

It's no Cones of Dunshire though ....
They make a version with pictures which I enjoy way more.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

  • Saw someone mentioned Crossbows and Catapults?

We invented our own version of that outdoors where we used a BBgun and rocks to attack our forts.

That may have been me. That was one of my favorite games as a kid. Actually still have it except some of the crossbows and catapults are broken :disappointed:

yeah but I think the pieces that broke were unfixable, I think one piece snapped in half or something. I have to find them and see.

Played Bad Choices last might. It was ok. Pretty much a truth or dare game without the dares.

    Sagrada

I bought this game a few years back and it didn't click.  I was moving stuff around and noticed it had a solo mode so I gave it a try and it made sense!  It is a pretty quick game (solo is around 10-20 minutes) but gets you thinking.  Rules are simple but the restrictions (same color or number cannot by placed adjacent, etc) and number placement along with the luck of the die roll make for good times.

I ordered Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the Second Era ... not sure if it was a wise decision based on the cost, but I'm very familiar with the games and lore.  I've tried to get into complex games in the past, but no one I know really is that interested so most have collected dust.  This has a solo mode which will hopefully teach me the game.  Hopefully it will arrive before the weekend arrives.

On the opposite side of the gaming spectrum, I got Flip Seven which looks faced paced and easy for anyone to play ... kinda like a blackjack game.

I got my sister Wingspan for Xmas a few years back and I'm certain it has yet to be played.  I should go grab it from her!

Azul is like Sagrada in the sense that I bought it a few years back and have yet to dive into it.

Elder Scrolls BotSE showed up yesterday ... I almost threw my back out lifting it off the porch!  25 pounds .... was not expecting that for a board game!

It may be a few weeks before I get to this one going
