I truely feel that PJ will attempt to hit this mark one day. Wrigley 2013, based on the original setlist, had a chance. But either way, without an opener and Bruce being one of Ed's heroes, why not go for it (I'm obviously in postpartum).

I'm going to see him Wednesday in philly...

Honestly, I hope it's not a 4 hour show... love the effort but longer doesn't exactly mean better

What time are they taking the stage by the way?

Ya that's kinda how I feel. Longer really doesn't mean better. I know it is incredible that he does a four hour show, but I really don't feel it necessary. At a certain point I kinda see it reaching a perfect running time for a concert, and then sometimes it goes downhill after that. 2:45 - 3:00 is perfect to me.

you wouldn't say that if it was pearl jam. the boss was the show that really changed music and the concert experience for me back in 78' the darkness tour. those shows were over 3 hours back then when only the grateful dead played long shows as well. today i know the boss is a great talent and one of the best of all times , but for me his evolution has become too staged and too hollywood. i hope pearl jam does not become this.

A Bruce show is a damn good party. I'd never leave a damn good party early or hope it to be over. If Bruce wants to play for 5 hours, I'm there.

8 pm. I loved the four hours but it was also a Thursday night and I took Friday off from work. There were two songs I would have replaced and I loved the rest of the show. Didn't feel like 4 hours at all because we were having fun.

I love Bruce - I've seen him about 10 times. His concerts are absolutely incredible. I just feel like my energy level starts to go downhill around the three hour mark regardless of what I'm doing.
  • MUCH respect to Bruce. He also has a 10-piece (or more) band behind him and doesn't play "Comatose," "Blood," "Do the Evolution," "Mind Your Manners," "Spin the Black Circle," etc. It's actually amazing that PJ plays 3-plus hours, considering how hard and intense many of their rock songs are. And it's a win-win for both fanbases that both artists care so much about their legacies and crowds. I'll take a "tight" 3-hour PJ set over a bloated 4-hour set any day.
  • Bruce also does show bits. He pours water over his head and out of his boots. It's cute and funny. But Ed will NEVER do that type of stuff, thankfully. PJ was, is and will always be a rock band (that can also play "Nothingman" and "Oceans" and "Bee Girl.")

Until they see PJ for 3 hours. Then they will change their minds. Hahaha!

I would say that 2.25 hours is a perfect length for a Pearl Jam show, but the songs they would kick out to get to that length would be the songs I want to hear (they would leave Alive, Black, Porch, RITFW, Betterman) so I'm glad PJ gets close to 3 hours.

If any thinks that Springsteen doesn't exert as much energy as Eddie during a show they are crazy. Springsteen doesn't have encore breaks. Pearl Jam has two encore breaks plus Ed talks a lot during shows (probably 20 minutes at the Fenway show).

Springsteen shows are anything but boring. They are one massive party. The energy at his Wrigley shows a few years back was amazing.

Yeah, just never got into Bruce and the E-Street thing, or the Grateful Dead, or Bob Dylan. I get their iconic nature though. Some of Bruce's solo stuff is good. Just not a fan of saxaphones, 4 guitar players, keyboards, etc,. I'm stoked for you all though! Sounds like many of you hold Pearl Jam and Bruce in the same high regards.

  • I saw Bruce on Sun in Chicago. If you're not a fan you'll think it's a great concert but kinda boring. if you're a true fan of Bruce you'll want him to play for 5 hrs. He totally changed the set list during the show. The encores do get a bit repetitive but that's when the casual fan has the most fun. No one can compete with Bruce live. PJ is close.

I agree. Bruce > PJ live by a slight margin.

There would be no PJ Live if it weren't for Bruce Live!
