I cant see them touring the USA again without a new record... maybe a one-off show or festival, but I cant see a USA PJ tour coming before a new album...

im personally hoping for an eddie vedder solo album and tour more than a new PJ album

So refreshing to see folks rooting for a new album and not tour dates!
  • I honestly think most of 2017 will be spent on a new album, with a few live solo/side project dates. New album late 2017.

I didn't feel the need for a new album until fenway added. Hoping we get one within a year.

Yes to a new album! An acoustic album and tour would be amazing, but just give us some new tunes.
  • 2017 would be their every 4 years pattern.

Seriously? I mean, a new album would be great but I have always given much more credence to the live performance aspect of a band.

I don't understand why more bands don't utilize the Grateful Dead method. Write the song(s), incorporate it/them into the concerts as you go, play the fuck out of them until you have 'em down pat and then go lay them down in the studio.

Of course the Dead were committed to a life on the road. I just prefer to see a band play.

If there is a new album in the pipeline, great. If not, I'm OK with that too. The catalog as it stands now is AWESOME.

I'm sad to say I agree. There will be Soundgarden and TOTD focus, and a good break for the band, etc. The fact is that putting out albums doesn't make any money. I understand the argument that they need new material to do a big tour...but they just sold out 4 baseball stadiums in no time with no new material in 3 years, so that really doesn't hold. They can tour Europe (festivals with some arena shows mixed in), S.A. again, and Australia with no new album and draw huge crowds. Shows + merch make money, music doesn't. Pains me to say that, I want new material of any kind in the worst way, but I just don't think there is any sense of urgency at this point to actually get it done. Let's not forget they don't have a boss to answer to at the record company like the old days about putting out "x" albums in "x" amount of time either. They'll do it when they are ready/want to, and I think that would bee a couple years out yet.
