Authorities have been advising people to stay home. They do not know how many, shooters there are or if it is in one location. Also asking citizen to not post pictures on social media. This is still an ongoing situation. Authorities are still looking for the shooter(s).

    Scary stuff.

    Holy fuck.

CNN just played a video of a man walking out of a mcdonalds, pull out a hand gun, and just starts firing at people. It was crowded and he just started blasting away. Jesus christ.

There is a video of the McDonald shooter opening fire outside. He is waiting for people to run out so it's likely something had already gone down inside. It doesn't show people getting shot because the person taping starts running. Shooter had a high capacity handgun. Heard at least 20 shots go off in succession.

They are all bad, but doesn't seem like this one will be as bad as some of the others. 2 and a half hours in, so if there was a significant ongoing situation it would be all over the place.

apparently trump thinks he can stop things like this.

why is everyone shocked by this? it happens every single day somewhere in the world.

i'm not going to waste my time typing about how angry i am about this. i have done it a hundred times. it keeps happening, and nothing is ever going to stop it.

People are shocked because it happened in western Europe instead of somewhere more "foreign". Not to minimize the event. They are all horrifying.

france is in western europe too. and they have been hit a few times.

i'm not arguing, but to me it is strange to be shocked that it happened in a place like germany.

    this happens everywhere now.

I don't agree that people are shocked because it happened in germany as opposed to Bangladesh. The west has had more than its fair share of attacks to make this less shocking every time.

i think it is less shocking because every one of us is desensitized to it.

in the united states it is like

"did you hear about the shooting in france?"

    "no man, how many victims?"

    "six."

"really? six? damn. so what are you doing this weekend?"

that is how casually these things are discussed here. it is so routine that it does not even register with a lot of people.

You said people are shocked because it happened in western Europe as opposed to somewhere more foreign. I disagree with that premise. The west has had more than its fair share of terrorist attacks. So much so, that it's becoming a normal thing.

But they are certainly still much, much more reactive when it's in the West as opposed to elsewhere.

Huh? I'm just saying that North Americans are much more interested in or concerned about such attacks if they occur in Western Europe as opposed to elsewhere. Why this vexes me a little bit is because the attacks that happen elsewhere are just as indicative of the growing problem of terrorism in the world, just as much a warning or sign of the terrible issues we're facing right now, and those are the places where it happens far more often.

There is a direct correlation between the use of foreign and domestic militant / extremist groups as western proxies in Syria and Libya, and the rise in the number of attacks occurring in western states over the past five years. Shocker. We will never learn. Most of us don't want to learn...
(Guess I might be jumping the gun assuming this is Islamic terror and not just a nut. Damnit, now I'm doing it, too)

I dunno, I feel like most people were pretty shocked, saddened and dismayed after Orlando, Dallas, and a bunch of other attacks since Sandy Hook.
