I don't get the hate for the final season.  I had no unresolved questions after I watched.  I pretty much guessed what happened to 11 while it was happening.  If you want to wonder what happened to an irrelevant character like Vicki, than that is on you.  I don't know what people expected out of it.

My main gripes with it were largely based around that none of it really made any sense. I realise its sci fi and its not based in reality at all, and its all fictional nonsense but the fictional nonsense still needs to remain consistent.

Simple things like demagorgens ripping everyone's heads off despite being attacked by fully automatic machine guns but not being able to deal with a woman with a broken bottle, or Lucas being able to simply front kick one away......???

Finding the lab has a tank full of water in the upside down conveniently when there isn't water down there

Not dealing even with the issues of gravity or oxygen makes it borderline silly

Not having demagorgens, demadogs, or demobats at the final boss level fight under the explanation given by the Duffers they were away doing other things???? seriously, on the night the big boss had decided was judgement day??

The kids scaling a huge cliff in the time it took Nancy to run backwards 50 yards

Making Vecna so easy to beat a few episodes after he emerged from a gate into Hawkins and literally destroyed everyone in seconds (although none of the crew we were rooting for despite them being the ones that were always causing him trouble - he had every chance to wipe them out and succeed)

El seemingly managing to jump the 500 metres to the abyss despite barely being able to clear small fences.....

The whole thing of the rift being covered by metal sheets and the town just going on as normal - and explaining it as an earthquake, and then when its all over for the rifts to 'heal' and no one questions it?

Hopper killing half the military (as small town cops often do), and not getting any heat from it after its all ended and he can wander off on his date with Joyce ? In fact where did the Military and the compound go? no one even raised an eyebrow??

The demodogs going into the hospital with pinpoint accuracy to get Max, at 100mph, but then having them creep at 1mph with no ability to find her in the basement when they were a few feet away...

Will being connected to the hive mind when they eventually lob the boss's head off, and not feeling anything? When he has felt everything that happened to him before when he had been connected

Joyce and Hopper went to school with Henry but that never came up in conversation?

The crew wander around the upside down, climb a 500m tower, scramble to the abyss, end up in a fight with the mind flayer where they get thrown all over the place, and end up emerging from the upside down as if they've been on a spa weekend

Vecna losing a tug of war with the fat kid Dennis............Dennis is stronger than the final boss?

What happened to the Russians? to the pregnant mothers? to Suzie? Dennis's family after they were drugged and their house wrecked? 12 kids coming home after being abducted by monsters and life just goes back to normal?

Will was infected with the particles for years, yet the 12 kids once freed from the 'tentacles' did a little burp and were absolutely fine with no lasting effects??

Vecna said to Will ' you will be my spy one last time......for what exactly?'

There are so many other bits that just didnt add up.....

The world is about to end with a monster merging two dimensions and they have all the time in the world to have endless heart to hearts and hugs and circle jerks about how much they love each other.......and the fact the end battle was over an hour before it ended was nonsense. It was so bloated in the end

It worked as a visual spectacle and full credit to them for what they achieved there, but there were so many holes in it, it just fell totally flat for me.

And to leave it on the did she or didnt she - make up your own mind - bullshit end point was just that for me. Bullshit.

I know plenty of folk who loved it however, so its always fun to see how we all see things differently.

lol, good points.  I took offense to cliff scaling one.

It was said that Hopper was in Vietnam so he knows how to fight.  Maybe he was a special forces guy? They do show him knowing how to use all weapons and those trip wires so he knows stuff. Or they were going for the Rambo/Red Dawn angle.

I think these two are tied together.  He used Will to see (spy) Max's last location that Will had seen her at.  So the Demos knew exactly where her room was at in the hospital.  WHen she moved from the room they did not know where she was anymore and would have to find her.

@pdalowsky - your comments all make sense.   I think I just suspend my disbelief like I do in most action movies where the villain should win 95% of the time but makes a stupid mistake or gets unlucky (like every Bond movie or superhero movie).

I agree it seemed odd to me that the army couldn't kill the Demos but the kids can use a sword to injure/kill them.

I have friends that watch movies and try to figure out the ending as it goes and they don't enjoy some movies because of this.  I guess I'm just a simpleton that shuts my brain off during movies (haha).  Although I do appreciate movies more like Interstellar where they try to be as scientifically correct as possible.

I liked the final season and the finale. It's a TV show that is meant to be entertaining. I was definitely entertained and enjoyed watching it. That's good enough for me.

I think you definitely have the right attitude, these things are designed to be enjoyed and taken at face value as a bit of fun. Overthinking them is completely unnecessary at the end of the day, and serves to detract only from the fun it is meant to be.

I thoroughly enjoyed Stranger Things up to the mid point of season 5, like loved it. I just think the ending was a bit lame........especially the did she or didnt she die thing. I know they made very subtle points in that scene that certainly point to her surviving (the fact the high frequency sound wasnt affecting her in the gate, there was no blood in her nose at all, and she didnt have a mask or a tank to speak to Will, as well as Will seeming to sense her afterwards) but the suggestion in Will's storytelling that it was 08 who projected El's image at the gate doesn't really ring true as the blast moved outwards and would have finished 08 well before it reached Eleven at the gate ruining the illusion.

However sometimes, the analytical approach can definitely ruin the fun. You only have to take one look into the star wars fanbase and the various things written by the dedicated and hardcore nerds and the whole thing gets absolutely shit on.

Am I not right in thinking the Demorgogan scene came before the 'be my spy one last time thing?'.

"There's one thing that bothers me" and he lists like 25 things. Love it! Those things all bothered me too, but whatever. It's just a dumb tv show.

    Beat the dead horse pt1.

    Whats next?  A DnD invitational?

    And most are really bad.

Not everything can be Batman and Star Wars.

I just re-watched the entire series over the last couple weeks.   It was fun the second go around as I had forgotten a lot over the years, but I picked up on things and understood things better now that I knew the full story.

When I re-watched, the spy one last time scene happened when Vecna went into Will's brain and saw the hospital room.    I think later on Will had a flashback to that moment with Vecna which is what you might be thinking of.  I had the same question you did when I watched the first time.

I don't think the scene where Eleven uses her powers to have the military guy shoot himself is talked about enough (or at all).  For all the flaws that existed in the last season, that is just a badass scene.  That shit is fucking dark.

I am one of those people that wonders how life goes after the story in the movie wraps.  So while 40 minutes is bloated, I liked hearing the updates on everyone.   That last scene in the basement was really good.

Yeah that was fantastic, and i generally thought they set up season 5 too well and strong in the first 4 episodes before the little break .....they just couldnt carry that momentum forward and it just fell away a little.

The scene of vecna removing the grenade pins whilst still attached to the army men's belts was class too
