The Cause:
EB Research Partnership is the largest non-profit dedicated to funding research aimed at treating and curing Epidermolysis Bullosa, a group of devastating and life threatening genetic skin disorders that affect children from birth. Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation supports the efforts of EBRP, and Jill and Eddie Vedder are active EBRP board members dedicated to help find a cure to this debilitating disease that affects an estimated 30,000 individuals in the U.S.

This campaign was inspired by three young fans from Pearl Jam’s next generation: Noah (10) and Brothers Tyler (14) and Sammy (11).
On May 5th in Quebec City something remarkable happened – Pearl Jam invited a 10 year old boy – Noah Keeley – up on stage to play one of his favorite songs – “Sad”. It was an unbelievable experience for Noah and something he will never forget. “It was such a great honor. Pearl Jam’s music means so much to me and my family but so does what they do to make the world a better place. I want to be a part of that now more than ever.”
But Noah is just one of a new generation of Pearl Jam fans - a new generation that not only loves the music but is also inspired by all the good the band does in the world. A few weeks before the Quebec show, Noah’s Mom, Sarah, met The Rippole Family at the Tampa show. They camped out in line together, talked about both the music and the causes PJ supports, played guitar, shared stories, and by the time the band went on stage, Tyler (14) and Sammy (11) felt a strong connection to Noah even though he was not there at the show. Since these brothers already had a tambourine from a past PJ show, after receiving another one that night, they decided to ‘pay it forward’ by sending it home with Sarah, for Noah.
Fast forward to the Quebec show and Noah’s epic experience on stage. Overcome with gratitude, Noah thought about how the love, joy, and thankfulness he felt on stage with PJ could roll out into the world as a wave of goodness to support an important cause. He remembered Tyler and Sammy and their generosity with the tambourine. Through his parents, Noah reached out to his fellow fans with a really big idea and the families started brainstorming. What if they could raffle off the tambourine Noah received from Tyler and Sammy to raise money for a great cause. What if they could help cure a terrible disease that affects thousands of children from birth – EB? So, the families put their heads together and came up with a plan to raise money and ‘pay forward’ their incredible experiences to kids who are struggling with this debilitating disease. To make the raffle even more appealing, tickets to the sold-out August 20 show at Wrigley Field were added to the prize package along with $1500 for travel expenses.
Noah, Tyler, and Sammy know they are just a few of the next generation of Pearl Jam fans who not only love the music but are also inspired by all the good the band does in the world. They would like to highlight the positive impact Pearl Jam is having on our next generation by engaging fans on a more personal level. In this spirit, when you donate and enter the contest, if you have any children in your life who are inspired by Pearl Jam, please list their first name, age, and hometown. We will share the list in a card to the contest winners, the band, and EBRP at the conclusion of the contest.
Noah, Tyler, and Sammy will meet each other for the first time in Chicago where they will also be attending the Wrigley show. They can’t wait to embrace, share their common love for music with each other and other PJ fans, pass along the tambourine and concert tickets to the raffle winner, and celebrate the success of this campaign to cure EB!
