The only correct answer to this is; as long as all 5 of them are alive and healthy they will continue on.

I severely doubt they retire in the next 4 years. What kind of poll is that? I imagine they keep playing until they can't or something completely diminished their ability to do so.

I don't think they'll ever really retire. Number of shows/frequency of albums will continue to decrease but they'll keep going until the wheels fall off. They know they have something special.

I don't think they'd ever retire. They'd just go on "indefinite hiatus", and only their deaths would mark the actual end of the band (and that would still probably depend on who dies.... indelicately put, I know).

Yah they really don't seem like the kind of band to do a farewell tour. When they've gotten tired of touring they seem to take breaks. They seem to have found how much touring they like to do the past 5 or 6 years. If they get tired of playing again I assumed they take a break. They don't do any of the break up make up shit, they just tour when they feel like it.

So I would imagine at some point (hopefully decades from now) they get too old to tour.. but until then I kind of think they'll keep on trucking.

I'll be the D Bag here and say I still think this could be their last tour, so 2016 should be a poll option :)

I think they'll retire the same way REM did, and only let people know they're done after their last tour, but I think Wrigley could be it. I do agree with PJ_Soul and think they'll call it a hiatus.

I've felt that the entire tour, and only felt stronger about it after Toronto 2, when Eddie said something to the effect of "We're going to miss you guys that follow us around, and even better, we might even miss each other".

Ya he could have been talking about the end of the tour, but he also might not have been. They had shows scheduled not far from that date, Bonnaroo's already happened, and to me it felt like he was talking about something bigger than a month to their next show.

Maybe I'm wrong and they'll go forever, but that's just my thought.

Don't hate me, I didn't start the conversation haha.

I talked about this shortly after the tour started. The walk out music being REMs "It Happened Today". A song Pearl Jam covered in Canada on the day they found out REM stopped. The crazy ass setlists, the insane amount of fan requests being answered. I love the band as much as you guys, but I think it's coming.

It's can't mean nothing. I just can't. It's too coincidental. I don't want it to mean shit, but it adds up in my brain.

Pretty sure they have every intention of making another album though, which they would ride for at least 3 years after release.
I know from my own paranoid experience, lol, that Eddie manages to say stuff that we could easily interpret as hints about the band breaking up every single tour for the past 10 years, lol. I personally wouldn't take much of what Eddie says on stage to heart ever. He's a man who speaks from his emotions while he's completely in the moment on stage, as well as drunk.

Two options: REM route or The Who route......

after reading some others opinions and a gut feeling since this tour was announced I think the end is near, but I hope I'm wrong because I didn't think things would be going this long :i_dunno:

Well, the band has explicitly said that they plan on starting another album sooner rather than later, so I doubt it. I think we'll get a new album sometime around the end of 2017.

Yup. It is ridiculous to think that 2016 was their last tour. Especially since they completely neglected a big chunk of the country, including their hometown. They've still got years in them. I don't listen to anything Ed says, since I can't understand him most of the time. But listening to Mike and Jeff, they aren't done.

Hopefully people won't get too sucked into this trolling poll, either.
