If it is... Wrigley 2 is going to be one hell of a show.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.
I don't think we should read too much into it....it's just a sadly under-appreciated, late in the catalog, tune by what turned out to be a sadly under-appreciated band when they reached the end of their catalog. i see it more of a tip the cap among peers than a veiled retirement message.
The thought did cross my mind. I know Jeff mentioned "going out on their own terms" in an interview a few weeks back. This isn't officially billed as a 25th anniversary tour nor is it a farewell tour, But really, the LB tour cycle is over, I'm sure they are out there because they enjoy it, they need to make money, etc. They seem to be trying to play every song in the catalog to be honest. Hope they continue, but if they don't its been a hell of a ride. They don't seem intent on making new music either.
If/When they do call it quits (not before Hall of Fame induction) I don't think they will announce it or give clues like this one. It will be like REM, they just announce it. BUT I really don't think they will ever call it quits till one of them dies. They might go to touring every 2-3 years, 5 dates a year, but there will always be a Pearl Jam. And they'll all do their side projects when not doing PJ.

This is what my heart believes. Like everybody here I don't want the ride to end either, and yes, I'm aware that these threads pop up every tour, but just too weird. I know they pick a song to walk out to, that's been the case for a long time. Just hoping this one, this tour just means they obviously love REM and that's all.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but shut the f@#k up.
Also, I want REM back!
I have never bought into any previous arguments over the last forever, but this seems strange. The crazy amount of interaction going on - the all encompassing set lists - I know, I know, shutting the fuck up. Haha!

Just too strange they continue walking out to this. The band is secretive enough, they could just walk away from it all at the end of the tour.
Honestly, I've been thinking that since about a week after they announced the tour, even more now. Seems like they're doing all the big/special/important cities where they've had some memorable shows, then a break, then Fenway and Wrigley with two shows each. Where do they go after that?
25 years seems like a good number. And two shows at Wrigley seems like a pretty good book end.
I've also never bought into these theories before, but this tour has a different feel. Guess we'll see.
