I dont think they'll ever totally stop. A significant decrease in how OFTEN they tour? Absolutely, its coming. Unless you're Philly or NYC, itll be 7-8 years in between shows instead of the 3-4 its been for the last 15 years.

Its not the end. This is depressing shit. Pinkpop 2017, I believe has already been confirmed by the head of the festival which would indicate a possible european leg next year

I don't think they'd ever retire. They'd just go on "indefinite hiatus", and only their deaths would mark the actual end of the band (and that would still probably depend on who dies.... indelicately put, I know).
I honestly don't think it will matter who. I think they will stop permanently if that happens before they are done.
I'll be the D Bag here and say I still think this could be their last tour, so 2016 should be a poll option
I think they'll retire the same way REM did, and only let people know they're done after their last tour, but I think Wrigley could be it. I do agree with PJ_Soul and think they'll call it a hiatus.
I've felt that the entire tour, and only felt stronger about it after Toronto 2, when Eddie said something to the effect of "We're going to miss you guys that follow us around, and even better, we might even miss each other".
Ya he could have been talking about the end of the tour, but he also might not have been. They had shows scheduled not far from that date, Bonnaroo's already happened, and to me it felt like he was talking about something bigger than a month to their next show.
Maybe I'm wrong and they'll go forever, but that's just my thought.
Don't hate me, I didn't start the conversation haha.
Pretty sure they have every intention of making another album though, which they would ride for at least 3 years after release. I know from my own paranoid experience, lol, that Eddie manages to say stuff that we could easily interpret as hints about the band breaking up every single tour for the past 10 years, lol. I personally wouldn't take much of what Eddie says on stage to heart ever. He's a man who speaks from his emotions while he's completely in the moment on stage, as well as drunk.
he has also said on occasion that he feels like they are just getting started. I think he just says things that will get a "pop" from the crowd.
I thought they would be playing county fairs by now... I was wrong
I could be wrong, but Wrigley sure ain't the county fair that you are begging for tickets to, right?
Ultimately, they will do what they do. We will enjoy them while we have them, but I'd like to think that we'll still rocking it out with them for a good long time yet.

Uh - I said I was wrong. And the tickets are for my brother - who fell off the PJ wagon in 2000
I don't see them retiring until they're health is too poor to tour. They seem to have really hit a sweetspot with their relationship right now, they all seem to be very comfortable with the amount of work they are putting in.

They still haven't done all of their albums, in their entirety (sequentially), live ... so at least until after that (Vitalogy, Riot Act, Backspacer and Lightning Bolt). I guess they could check this off since they've got enough shows left this tour to do so ;-)

I thought they retired in 2011, and are now playing rock on a consulting basis.
But seriously, this ain't a poll I have any interest in answering.
