    I agree. They use sexuality and booze and party atmosphere to draw people into it for the women, and I think that is totally inappropriate. Beach volleyball is stupid because of it. If they stopped all that and just focused on the sport perhaps it would be better. I wondered why it even existed, and I decided there could be some value in having beach volleyball as opposed to just indoor volleyball because of the much smaller teams, making it a different game, plus playing on sand allows them to make moves that you could never make on a court because it would hurt to much. But the ridiculous way that beach volleyball is framed and marketed makes it a stupid, sexist joke..... It does look like it's a fun event to attend though. Everyone is drunk. :lol:

    PS - The Canadian men's indoor volleyball team beat the US team in a stunning upset yesterday. :plus_one:
    the women's beach volleyball 'uniform' briefs actually has a MAXIMUM side width measure. they cant be more than 7cm. apparently there is a one piece uniform but ive never seen it. tho I have to admit ive not seen a beach volleyball game since Sydney 2000. ;)

    something about Lochte bothers me and when he came out with this story I was like yeah that didn't happen....must be an indictment on him because there is plenty of robberies in Rio on a daily basis

There was a journalist who actually had the exact same experience as the one these guys are describing right before the Olympics started, with the robbers posing as cops and acting in the same way. Only difference is that they targeted just one person, not 4 huge guys. So it's not like the story is outrageous. This scenario does happen. It may have even been the same robbers, who knows? On the other hand, maybe the swimmers read the same article I did, and just reproduced the story!

    These cops deal with so many of these holdups they know all the tricks. Clearly something about this story didn't add up and got them thinking it was bs.

    These cops deal with so many of these holdups they know all the tricks. Clearly something about this story didn't add up and got them thinking it was bs.
    Either that, or the authorities are making seem like they are lying because if they aren't it makes Rio look even worse to the world.
    If they made it up.... seriously wtf??? Who does that in real life?? Would 4 grown men who are in the media spotlight really decide to do such a thing??
