I like it for sure. But I'm partial to Real Me. I just think they are set up perfect for the Who. The version at the VH1 awards is just perfect. I can say the worst was probably Waiting on a Friend. I love the song, but it just didn't work...
I was at the Who tribute show. Just from hearing the first three notes of the Real Me I knew they had nailed it and would nail it. It was perfect.
I think the studio version of Crazy Mary is one of the best things they've ever done in studio, but for live covers my vote is for Baba O'Riley.
Saw it at Greenville and enjoyed it, but I don't rate it as one of my favorites. My personal favorite is Sonic Reducer. After that, probably Baba. I really enjoyed All Along the Watchtower when I saw it at a 2013 show.
I still think the studio version of "Crazy Mary" with Victoria Williams as found on the Sweet Relief compilation to be the greatest thing they've ever put to tape.
Saw "Comfortably Numb" in Toronto this month and it was absolutely amazing, but I can't say definitively that it's their all-time best cover. They do a fantastic job with so many songs.
"Somewhere in between / There and here / I got lost / I got scared..."
They play it well. But I don't really like Eddie singing it. Same with "Mother." It's not that he does them bad or good or whatever...I just don't dig it.
Ed is the only one I like singing Comfortably Numb. Don't like the original at all.

The live version of Crazy Mary is insane. When Mike and Boom go off on the solo - good lord!

My uncle and I have this conversation a lot. I've always felt that pearl jam is one of very few bands that can make a cover song their own. My uncle, who is in his 50s, is a huge who and Nielsen young fan. He can identify with RITFW and Baba as pearl jam songs. Not just a cover.
I'm a huge fan of everything they cover with the exception of love reign o'er me.

I liked it when he did it with Roger. Now not so much but no worries they can't play what they want. I'm hoping for Release at Pemberton. This will be my seventh show and I need it.Long story but I'm ready.

Ed does Gilmour's parts much better than Waters.' Mother is more of a Waters song and while Comfortably Numb's emotional anchor is Gilmour's parts. That explains why I much prefer PJ's cover of Comfortably Numb but am not too high on their take of Mother.

I'd be happy if they never covered Pink Floyd again.
