Brest, France seems like a nice place. I have no particular opinion on feeding the city in public....seems like a strange thing to try and do...but whatever floats your boat.

Had a similar discussion with friends a while ago. The conclusion i came to was that the argument that women's breasts need to be covered in public is relies on the premise that female breasts are inherently sexual. Now in this context, it seems pretty obvious that there's nothing sexual about the breasts function.

Personally I think we should consider tribal cultures where it's common for women to be topless, and religious cultures where women are expected to have their hair covered in public 100% of the time or their entire bodies covered.

It's just our culture projecting its own insecure bs onto its lady population. As per usual.

To me this all appears to show in our culture the insecurities and jealousy of some men. How can that be.....well a baby upon the demand of crying because it's hungry can get the immediacy of being breast fed in public if needs be. Some men at home can't get that kind of immediate attention which then leads us to this thought process of a woman having to coving up while breast feeding in public. Just get over it already.

I'm not going to lie and say that I don't find boobs sexually attractive, because I do. But it's really all about context, seeing a woman flaunting them in a tiny bikini on the beach might be very sexy, but if I see a woman feeding her baby the last thing on my mind is anything sexual.

A sex education book full of illustrations depicting sexual acts has ignited a controversy after it was left at an Oregon elementary school library, according to a report late Thursday.

The principal at Hudson Park Elementary School in Rainier admitted in a letter to parents Thursday that the book was inappropriately shown to fourth-graders in the library recently, Fox 12 Oregon reported. Angry parents were told the book had been pulled from shelves.

The book in question, “It’s Perfectly Normal,” explains bodies, sex and sexual health, the station reported.

The illustrations in the book include pages of naked teens and adults, some depicting sex acts and even masturbation, the station reported.

Rainier School District officials defended “It’s Perfectly Normal,” according to Fox 12. The officials said the book has been approved for students 10 and up and is on the state-approved list of books allowed at the school.

The school district told the station a sixth grade class accidentally left the books out where a fourth grade class found and read them.

School officials said it was an honest mistake.

But parents of some of those 4th graders who spoke to Fox 12 accused the school librarian of showing them to their children, even encouraging them to take the book home.

The parents said some 4th graders who saw the book are only 9.

The letter to parents from the principal included an apology, the station reported.

“Inappropriate human development and sexuality books were disseminated to students who had library,” the letter also said, according to the station. “Procedures have been put in place to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

District officials also told the station the librarian had been “disciplined.”

I wonder how many of these parents are O.K with Breast feeding in public ? LOL !!!!!

we all have nipples because they form before our genes take over deciding which gender we are. in that vein, if women have to cover up, so should men. should fat men with moobs be forced to wear a shirt at all times?

I don't mind it. Everyone has a body and almost all of them are flawed. It's okay if they aren't perfect.

Maybe, but I do like something covering people's sweaty genitals and assholes at least, lol. I don't really want them all over public benches, chairs in restaurants, etc, as I appreciate hygiene. Also, bras are pretty necessary for some of us! ;)

So that is the sickos' problem, not that of a woman who just wants to feed a child.
If America was not as oversexualized and as highly sexually repressed as it is and if something like breast feeding was seen for what it is- a normal part of having an infant- there would be fewer sickos. What a weird country the U.S. is that way.

And then there's all that televised and advertised teasing and flaunting and sexual innuendo which is really symptomatic of sexual repression and frustration. I thought maybe the openness of sex and women's liberation and the 60's and 70's would change that- and I think it did for a while- but here we are, still repressed and obsessed to the point where some people actually think something natural like breast feeding is "dirty" or obscene. Women wearing tall spike high heals is symptomatic of the same kind of repressed thinking. Considering what we know and where we could have gone, I sometimes wonder if we have actually regressed this way rather than moved ahead.

How did you manage hearing protection for the little guy? Asking because I plan on taking my little guy (18 months old now) to a few folk festivals this year and last year was a nightmare trying to keep his hearing protection on.
