Watch out those who have tickets for Raleigh. I can totally see Eddie and the boys following Bruce on this.

I hate it for the fans. Especially the common sense ones who don't support these ridiculous laws, but statements need to be made.

And if a dumb rock band(s) cancelling shows gets people angry enough than it helps the greater cause.

Its a crummy move IMO. Punishes fans. Not the politicians and the 'evangelical' South.

Play the show. Say something outspoken there... and declare during the show that this is it until they fix this shit. Get out and vote

Good for Bruce but definitely sucks for the fans. Would not be surprised at all to see PJ follow suit.

They should use this show as a way to get out the message that our governor has to go.
I know that I will be there with an anti-McCrory sign. they played a similar retirement party for Jessie Helms in 1996. guess we shall find out soon.

What about all the low paid workers at these venues who count on every single event to pay bills and put food on there table? Canceling shows hurts the working class more than it makes a impact in politics.

I have tickets to the show and am making a long drive to get there so speaking from a selfish perspective I sure hope they don't cancel it. Speaking from a practical standpoint, I don't see Ed and the boys ditching 15-20k fans to make this point given the show has been on the books for a long time, they know they have fans that travel from around the world, have all the merch printed, contracts with the venue, etc, etc. Now what I do see is Ed making a long rambling speech about it during the show, maybe dedicating a "statement" song to the local politicians and making a statement they won't be back until something changes. God...as if this tour isn't going to be politically charged enough.

Agreed. Wilco did something along these lines after they initially cancelled (and then reinstated) their show in Indy last year.

Two days in advance is tough, too. If you are planning a weekend around this show and flying in you're probably already at the airport or in North Carolina by now.

I can see them going either way. I just hope they know that there are people in this state that have been fighting this fight since the minute it was announced. i found out on Facebook. and i know i have pissed off my out of state friends with all my posts about it.
If they are cancelling it, then they need to make the statement earlier than Bruce.
i think that is really shitty timing. do Bruce fans not travel? i know that there will be a lot of out of state fans at the PJ shows.

It makes a statement, and draws attention to the issue, but the decision makers could care less in the end.

Better off doing something like donating the proceeds or a set amount to the affected community, that will still raise awareness and actually put some $$ in their pockets to help fight their cause.

It'll be on every news broadcast in the country tonight. Cancelling is definitely a bigger statement than just commenting from the stage.

I feel for the fans, but respect his choice. Were it mine to make I would probably play the show but use it as a platform to speak against the law. That being said, Bruce cancelling the show creates a negative economic impact on the state, which is undoubtedly part of his aim. And already is bringing a lot of attention to the issue. I'm interested to see how PJ plays this. My bet is they play the Raleigh show.
