last tour rumour?

  • Yea there was always "This might be it" talk ever since Seattle in 2000. But hey, they always come back to impress. I could see them taking a year or 2 off after this tour and letting Stone and Jeff be with their newborn children but they will be back. I can see PJ easily being like the Rolling Stones.....easily.

I don't mind if they emulate the RS in a longevity sense but please, please, please don't wish that Ed would become as tragic as Mick!

Reading back through the thread I think you'll find that a lot of the panic is coming from some Oz fans. I think that's because we don't seem to get them here as often as you do in US/Europe. Ed did say at the end of the Melbourne leg that they won't be back for awhile. Couple this with PJPTSS and SOME of the Aussie fans are freaking out a bit but as far as I can see it's completely unfounded. The rest of us here are calm and keeping the faith.

Where women glow and men plunder?"

    (sorry, I couldn't resist the temptation... :D)

Perfectly ok with me. It's cool song even if overplayed and a damn sight better than our national anthem! :-)

[Anyhoo, the middle of East Bumblefuck, Europe would do just fine as long as I don't have to travel to another continent because, let's face it, money doesn't fall off trees. If I could live off air just to see them, I would.]

East Bumblefuck? And you reckon Aussies are odd? :-)

[It would be selfish to demand a new tour right away, having in mind that the guys have personal lives and families that have been somewhat neglected during this big tour. So it's safe to say that they will take some time off to figure out what they want to do next, but calling this a split-up would be absurd. They'll come back to Europe, South America, Australia, keep touring the US and for all yee of little faith, yes, they will eventually tour the South... :D:D:D]

    I completely agree!

Lots of love to all of you Jammers out there!!! :D

I'm sure the band just needs a nice long break right now and aren't thinking about anything other their new babies coming soon (for Stone and Mike anyway...). I'm sure they'll rest up and hit the road again in hopefully 2 years!

I won't believe it. Because it's not true. As a previous user said, they think they'll be something like the Stones. In their 60's and touring.

I have heard from a VERY reliable source that Ed has stated that they will NOT end up like Rolling Stones and be touring into their 60's

The clock is ticking down people :(
  • Nah..

They still have to play the South!

You've had PJ in 2003 and 2006. Europe had them last in 2000. So yeah, relax.

Well maybe that's not such a bad thing! By the time they are in their 60's most of us will be around that age ourselves and probably too old and too tired to care anyway! Whatever they decide to do we will all have to live with it. But I'm sure they will tour Oz at least one more time.

Who knows? They probably don't even know themselves. They could continue along just fine and then wake up one morning and be completely over the whole thing. I will always be grateful to them for the positive impact that they have had on the world but it must get deadly boring touring around with the same songs over and over. Some days it must feel like going to the office. Some people can do that well into their 60s and be perfectly happy with a gold watch at the end of their working life, but other people need to take Long Service Leave or have a complete change of direction several times during their careers. And lets not forget that this is their career.

  • Ed said in Hawaii Saturday night it was the last show....pause for effect....of this tour, and later in the concert said they had many more shows in them. Also said that it would be their last concert for a while.

these rumors start ever tour, hell, when Binaural came out many were saying "Parting Ways" was written to say goodbye, that they were done as a band, guess "they" never listened to the lyrics.

anyway, I think as of now, we'll see PJ live again in a couple years, with possible onesies and twosy shows between now and the next album tour.

Well, maybe he should rethink that. Why not?! He won't have any juice left in him? That's still 20 years from now, and there are plenty of excellent *mature* musicians. I mean 20 years ago I was . . . I was . . . well, that was a long time ago :D

I went and saw Neil Young recently... the crowd was very interesting..

Lots of aged hippies but very dynamic crowd of old an young people.

Would love to see this for pearl jam.

Whilst I dont want them to ever break up or ever stop touring, ask yourself...

Could a tour ever have the same intensity when these guys are 60 years old and touring?

At some point we must all call it a day, however I suspect PJ will do what they do after every other tour...

Go home, spend some time with the family, hit the studio and write another record.

    Then tour with it :)

Expect a new record in 2-3 years and a tour shortly after.

TRUE DAT? TRUE DAT? One of my best friends says that ALL THE TIME! What are you phsycic?X... psychic?? F***! (Whatever it's to early to spell well!) No really man, you've freaked me out, is that from a movie or something? :-) I don't think it's only QLD with the new scalping laws I think they are going to be here in VIC too. This morning on the news they are talking about ebay suing BDO for scalping tix on ebay. And don't worry about PJ if we build it they will come.

I don't think anyone's freaking out... it's just a thought that gets tossed around and seems to have a bit of substance to it... (when you get involved with the minor details...)

Who knows... it's their decision in the end.... we'll always be fans, regardless of what happens...

    HOWEVER...
    here's to a long and tour-friendly future! :D

  • What are you guys talking about?
Pearl Jam is a young band, why should they stop? They make history with everything they do. So does U2, and they started out in the 80s (79 i guess).

You talk as if they have problems walking around or sth. Personally, I think they are better than ever before. Do you think Eddies voice is falling apart because of his age or something... listen to the boots people! They are on top

    ridiculous thread...
  • I have a question for everyone who follows them on a whole tour or leg of a tour? How the F do you afford it? Is everyone in the Tenclub rich or something? Do you have jobs where they let you leave for weeks at a time? What jobs are these (besides teaching of course), cause I want one! On the next tour I'm telling my boss that I need to check into rehab and will be back in 28 days! I figure they can't fire you for a "sickness", right? That's the only excuse I can think of that may work. Any other ideas?

This has been discussed at length in here many times ... here are the basics:

the average PJ fan is probably in the high-20s, therefore no longer a student and already have a decent job and/or an established career.

Personally, I am almost 29. I have a very good job. I do not have kids. I have a lot of disposable income. And I love Pearl Jam :) So, to me, spending 3, 4, or 5 grand following them around is no big deal.

There aren't too many bands with a fan demographic like PJ. It is one of the thigns that makes them unique. U2 has the same ~ the difference though is that U2 plays the same setlist every night during a tour, otherwise I am sure you'd have more people following them around as well ...

I see them a few times here and there...

I always plan it out on points.....

It works well because the points are really easy to use...

lets face it who has Denver on their travel plans with points....???

Thus you can book a hotel / flight etc on the points without problem..
You just have to pick a good place to go that is not that popular, and plan it in advance so you can use the points....

Just my cheap way of going.....
