Just started rewatching this masterpiece. My favorite seasons were 1, 2 and the last one
Awesome. Originally, I didn't really like season 2, but now it's one of my favorite because of the change of pace in characters. Although, Zig is kind of annoying. I loved the Greek and how that played out in the later seasons.
Finished the series. Incredible, really enjoyed it mixed feelings if I would want to see more or if it ended at the right spot
highly recommend this show to anyone who has not watched it yet.

Which season was your favorite?
I'm into season 3 of my rewatch. 2 is so well done. First time through I really hated Ziggy but this time I felt sorry for him more than anything else.
It didn’t really seem like distinct seasons to me as I watched the entire series within about three weeks. maybe the season about the docks felt a little different but it all tied in. McNulty’s swing from drunk to straight laced to off the rails was my only very minor issue. The FBI profile about the serial killer which was essentially him was hilarious

Also I may be off my rocker, but in the season focusing on the kids in school, did one of the kids in the at risk class say something like “ I want to me a marine biologist “ and then later Bunk is telling McNulty that his kid wants to be a marine biologist? Was that Bunk’s kid?

He's a tragic character now, as far as I am concerned.
An extraordinarily tragic character that you root for even though you know he's an ass.
It's weird. First time through I liked Nick's character more. Now I realized Nick was more or less an asshole and Ziggy, while an annoying fuck, seemed to be more of a sympathetic figure in my eye. They're both victims of their surroundings and upbringings of course though.

4 is so fucking good. I'm 3 deep into 5 right now. First time through I came away feeling that it was clearly the worst of all the season. I guess I wasn't paying attention to it as much as I should because the whole 'Mcnulty creating a serial killer" thing seemed too far fetched to me. Makes more sense now though. The dude is just fed up and feels this is his only way of being able to work the Marlo case. This time I am trying to appreciate as much as I can. I am liking it more.
I think 5's biggest problem is that they did not introduce the newspaper crew in earlier season's. I guess they also did that with the dock works in 2, and the kids in 4 but those stories worked so much better. Carcetti was introduced in 3 and then he became a big story line in 4. Same thing with Bunny Colvin in 3 and 4. I wish they would've spent a little time with media stuff before making them such a huge feature in 5.
It's a minor gripe on what is quite possibly the greatest show ever. A gripe none the less.
I'm getting ready to watch this. I started S1 a few times and got distracted by other things. I keep hearing how great it is so I'm going to stick with it. The wife and I need something to watch.

Just came across this thread... I (finally) started watching The Wire a couple of months ago while exercising, and have literally 30 minutes left of the final episode that I'll finish this evening.
This show lives up to the hype, and I will almost certainly re-watch at some point down the road.
I still need to watch more than just the first season of Breaking Bad.
Game of Thrones was just not my thing. I watched every episode, and if you were to ask me what it was about (or even what happened), I don't think I'd be able to tell you anything beyond than misogyny and rape.

Still think 5 is their weakest link by far but, yeah I definitely appreciated it a bit more during the rewatch. Loved the way they ended it.
