Will have to try this show again. I've tried I think 3 times before and couldn't get passed 2 or 3 episodes. I know everyone says you got to give it 4 or 5 and it is worth it.
The problem is I get 2 or 3 episodes in, something else comes up that catches my eye instead, and I have to rewatch the same ones again and never get to the "good" ones.

I would say give it the entire first season instead of 4-5 episodes. It is incredible television and well worth the investment but does move slower than most other shows. You have to let it breathe.

Did you revisit? I still haven't watched this show and kind of did what you describe.

I keep seeing it pop up as one of the greatest ever and I know people here say the same.

  • It’s in my top 5, and I’d honestly have to say that it is my favorite show ever. It is so different from every tv show I’ve ever watched, in both tone, pace, writing, acting. At times, it seems like real people just living their lives.

I was watching it while my wife worked on her doctorate in sociology. Every time I talked to her about it, she would state how it was basically what she was either learning or later teaching.

It has a lot to say about different aspects of America. If you’ve ever read David Simon’s The Corner or Homicide: Life on the Streets (yes, the nonfiction basis for THAT show), then you’ll see a lot of that reporting in the show.

This is the only show I still have dvd collections for. It drops off a tiny bit for season 5, but the finale brings it home nicely.

It’s also just full of some wonderful acting talent, especially character actors.
