Pearl Jam, Ten Club and Musicares are teaming up to spread the word on Hearing Health. Visit the Musicares table at each of Pearl Jam's U.S. shows on the 2016 Spring Tour to pick up your pair of limited edition PJ X Musicares Earplugs. And wear them!

You love listening to music, right? You might as well protect those ears so you can do it for a long time. While you're there, find out about hearing health and Musicares. A suggested donation will be requested to receive the limited edition case and pair of earplugs.

Fans are encouraged to take photos with their plugs in their ears and post them on social media using the hashtag #pjcares. And please tag @pearljam and @musicares.

“Don’t be careless and lazy at loud rock shows or cranking tunes through an old Walkman like I was thirty years ago (but boy did it all sound good). Wear hearing protection or you’ll end up with a 1.5k ring in both ears every night when you go to bed or worse when you are trying to enjoy the serene quiet of an empty desert or forest, again like me.”

But why limited edition? Put them in the shop and sell lots of them! I'm a big advocate of ear plugs. I was happy to see Jeff wearing ear protection but didn't see any on Joseph and Richard took off his big earphones for most of the show. It makes me worry when I see my favourite musicians without ear protection!
  • These almost look like Hearoes... but maybe not. I totally want these. Although most Pearl Jam shows have not been loud enough to warrant me wearing ear plugs.

    Foo Fighters... that's another story.

I've got tinnitus and it stinks rat finkle ass. Would rather have my left ear gnawed off by a sewer pig and still have good hearing in my right ear than put up with this spinkle cream situation.

Well it did say requested donation... so not like they'll be totally free. Still, curious to see what the ebay value ends up at in a few weeks...

Very cool thing to do. I fully support ear protection.... and at the same time I struggle with using it responsibly. I always go to shows with earplugs and good intentions, but damn, they sure do reduce my enjoyment of a show and really makes me feel detached from the crowd too. I always end up taking them out, which makes me an idiot. And I finally am starting to notice some minor tinnitus now and again. It was the Neil Young show last November where I was on the rail that kind of pushed my ears past their limits.

    This makes me so happy.

I've been to hundreds of concerts in my 36 years and I've subjected my years to years and years of sonic abuse. Things came to a head when in 2009 J Mascis blew out my right ear in Tempe, AZ, and I ended up with a scary case of hearing loss and tinnitus. Without a white-noise machine at night, the ringing in my ears is so loud I can't fall asleep and it makes me feel like the world is closing in on me. There are also some tones that I can't hear anymore. It's depressing. I wish - WISH - I had done a better job protecting myself at concerts in my younger days. When you're 20 and at a concert you get ringing for a couple days and it goes away - but you're really damaging yourself for the rest of your life. I regret so many times that I didn't protect my ears at concerts.

To prevent further damage, since 2009 I've worn specially made earplugs that turn down the volume essentially and it's made a big difference. I still enjoy the shows, but I go home and there's no more standard post-show ringing.

Pearl Jam - I commend you for providing earplugs at your shows and I really hope everyone takes advantage of this generous and forward thinking offer.

More bands and concert halls should really do the same for their fans so everyone can enjoy music for their entire lives!
