$7M is a small price to pay considering you make zero tax revenue from option B: a shuttered Carrier and 1000 unemployed people and their families.
hmph....people actually believe this...???
Average wage rate at Carrier is $31. 1000 x 31 x 8 x 5 x 52 = $64,480,000 paid in salary assuming 40 hour work week.
State income tax rate is 3.3% which translates to $2,127,840. Tax incentives are $700,000 per year.
Net gain to the state coffers = $1,427,840
I'm not sure what not to believe? Simple math proves my point.
Where does that average wage rate come from? What employees are included? I doubt the average carrier worker makes that much if you exclude the suits that wouldn't be losing their jobs anyways.
Not sure how they define it, but in my experience the term "wage" is used in reference to hourly workers, not salaried.
I've been critical of the clown since he announced he was running. At least this is a positive thing. Would have been great if he could have saved all the jobs. The city of Huntington will be crushed. But something is better then nothing.
But why is nobody talking about the "consequences" Trump said he was going to levy against companies that leave the US? Yes, half the plant is staying but half is still leaving. Where are the penalties?
Is he president? No. He has no authority to penalize them.
Again, most people were smart enough to know Trump's campaign was one big negotiation strategy. It is ridiculous that anyone would possibly believe Trump was going to deport 11 million people or form a Muslim registry. At the end of the day people voted for a president that they though would take issues like immigration, Obamacare, jobs, etc seriously. That is what they wanted. The how and what is still to be decided.
At the end of the day they voted out of fear and trump used the theme's listed to manipulate enough people by weaving a message of fear into those policies. Yes his policies are ridiculous, but a lot of people that voted for him that can still link thoughts together convinced themselves that these were good policies so they thought they weren't supporting a bigot. Trump tapped into a group of conservatives who think they aren't prejudiced, but actually are.
He didn't foreclose her home. Her lack of action did. It takes an incredible amount of negotiating before foreclosure.
So many memes to choose from, let's go with this one!
That aside, ftfa: "Over five years, she tried unsuccessfully to adjust her loan with OneWest through the Treasury Department's Home Affordable Modification Program. But she said that One West Bank lost paperwork, provided conflicting statements about ownership of the loan and fees and submitted charges that were unverified and caused her loan balance to balloon. By the time she lost her home in foreclosure in April 2015, the payoff balance totaled $517,662. Colebrook said she is still challenging the foreclosure in court."
The story was a clever anecdote about a trumpeters now experiencing buyer's remorse after the election. They were promised the swamp would be drained, and disappointed to find out trump is a wetland conservationist. Now they are being confronted with their own ignorance and realizing how it's truly going to cost them. I am sure some will find a way to blame the liberals for Trump chipping away their health care, education, & retirement. But the next 2 years, probably 4, are on trump and their supporters. It's time for the bootstrap party of self-responsibility to own up to the path they've led our country down, and it appears they will be reminded with painful frequency. This was exhibit A.
The furnace manufacturer will receive $5 million in tax credits over 10 years in exchange for keeping 1,069 jobs at its Indianapolis plant, with an average wage of $30.91 hour. The company also will receive $1 million in training grants and up to $1 million in additional tax credits based on Carrier's planned $16 million investment in the west-side factory "I’ve watched as politicians talked about stopping companies from leaving our states," Trump said at a Pennsylvania campaign rally in August: " 'Here’s a tax abatement of any kind you want. We’ll help your employees.' It doesn’t work, folks. That’s not what they need. They have money. They want to go out, they want to move to another country, and because our politicians are so dumb, they want to sell their product to us and not have any retribution, not have any consequence." http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/why-carriers-new-deal-could-set-a-troubling-precedent/ar-AAl4hWu?li=AAggNb9&ocid=mailsignout
^^^ First I need a better understanding of where you are coming from too. In your blunt opinion what let that woman get so far down until a decision was made to foreclose?
Might be a savvy career move on her part. She's seeing trump abandon his kooky base since he got elected, and now she can continue on her tour playing to that base with her schtick.
^^^ This kooky base that President-elect Trump is abandoning is the same as Hillary supporters that lost. This presents a middle for a man like President-elect Trump to be.
