My buddy's getting married in BC the Friday of the festival. He's a big PJ fan pissed that he has post-wedding to do the rest of the weekend and won't be able to attend. Me, however, I'm stoked.

Its way less douchey than the Okanagan (no offence to anyone up there), It's just a small mainly farming town set on a prarie surrounded by towering mountains.

Thought you'd like to know they usually announce one day tickets the first week of July if you're just going to go up for the day.

Yah it's basically a 2 hour drive north of Horseshoe Bay. I think I'm going to wait for info about single day tickets. Got my vac. days planned for other things, and I don't want to go to all 4 days of the festival. If PJ plays the Fri or Sat night (hopefully the Sat) and they sell single day tickets, I think I'll swing it.

The last festival I saw PJ play a festival was the Virgin Music Festival in Calgary '09. It was all GA on a nice sunny/warm Alberta day. It had a certain magic to it, that was different from arena shows.

I doubt they'd play Vancouver. It's only 2 hours from Vancouver. It's like playing Gorge and Seattle. sure the Gorge is a 3 hour drive, but it's generally the same pool of people going.

This is why I'm not excited about this announcement. But ya if they do the Fri or Sat night I might consider it if I can get a single day ticket.

That's perfect for me. I don't want to get the full-weekend because I fly in on Thursday and have to attend the wedding on the Friday. Thanks for the info.

Lol, yes. I meant to say the interior - just woke up. :P (is that area even called the interior? Maybe not. Wtf do they call that region anyway? Coastal mountains??). My sister has a place in Whistler - i know the area well. (my sister will probably rent the place out for that weekend unfortunately, so no free stay for me I don't think. If she doesn't, then that will definitely encourage me to go).

I mentioned this before but I went to Pemberton two years ago specifically to see Soundgarden and NiN. This a perfect location for a festival and nothing like any others I've been too which tend to feel overcrowded and dirty. The location is stunning with mountain backdrops. Lots of grassy areas and places to escape the crowds. Overall a very chilled but fun environment for a show. Chris Cornell even mentioned that he thought it was the most gorgeous place they've ever played. I just stay in Whistler and take the shuttle in each day.

Given that no one else is fit to headline, how great would it be if PJ just played 2 or 3 nights! That's the only way I'd buy a 4 day pass.

My sister won't be renting the house in Whistler after all. :) Free (and super nice) accommodations in Whistler makes going for PJ a given, assuming I can get a day pass for their day.

I'm staying with you, PJS  ...like I said before, accommodations at whistler thru vrbo are comparatively dirt cheap....I paid like $100/nt for a sweet one bedroom when I went to squamish.
I'm waiting to see about the one day passes....hopefully by then we'll know if there will be any other shows in the west. And now Radiohead is playing Outside Lands....ugh.

Maybe Cypress Hill will hang with Stone and kick that funky slang?

Radiohead has already stated that they are not playing any headline gigs beyond MSG and Shrine in LA. So unless some random festival comes along, like that proposed Coachella in the fall, it looks like maybe the only additional festival they'll add is ACL. In you're in the PNW and want to see Radiohead, unfortunately you're going to have to travel this year. Hopefully they will come back with a full tour next year.

I got tickets for the LA shows (live in Portland) because I didn't think for a second Radiohead was playing in the PNW. I'm ok not seeing PJ this year but haven't seen RH in 4!

That's some serious seating capacity. I just read that they had over 115,000 attendance in 2015. I'm not sure how they differentiate between single day ticket holders and 4 day ticket holders, but thats a crapload. I don't know if I've ever been to a festival (or any show) that big, let alone one that big that is all GA....

edit: Further googling seemed to indicate that might of been misleading it was around 30k/day.

I wonder if it's possible they'd come to the island and play the "Rock the Shores" festival. It's the weekend right after Pemberton... I don't think we get 30k people/night though. Would be epic. I have to see Pearl Jam play here :)

I've never gone to one yet. So far most of the bands that have come I've seen already are wasn't to interested in. If they bring PJ to here I would be there without question. I don't think they've played here since they were a club band (long before I was 19). I've had to travel for every PJ show I've ever seen....
