Obviously Pedroia's numbers don't stack up to Jeter's. But if Pedroia could stay healthy they for sure would. Unfortunately for him that's part of your legacy so if you cant stay healthy then that's a fair argument against you.

Yet, the biggest knock on Jeter is that he not only was never the best player in baseball, he was never even the best player on his team. In fact he was probably the 4th best Shortstop in the American League for majority of his career. He only was able to be considered the best and only started winning gold gloves and silver sluggers when Nomar was traded to the national league, ARod got moved to 3rd base, and everyone realized that Miguel Tejada was 10 years older than what his birth certificate said. Guy was great, don't get me wrong, but one of the more over rated and over blown players of this generation. There are a handful of players playing now who can do exactly what he did in his career and are well on their way to matching it.

With Jeter there's a lot of intangibles though that don't fall into the stat keepers record books. Things like clutch performances on both O&D, the fact that the dude made the playoffs in 16 seasons, his post season BA is .308 in 33 series played, .321 in 7 World Series appearances.... Definitely the dude id want in those situations. But as a nyy fan i totally would take Pedroia the destroyah on my team any freaking day of the week as well!!

I don't think Jeter's ever had a two year run like that. Pound for pound, I think Pedroia's a better baseball player, but Jeter's longevity has to be factored in.

With the way Pedroia's declined over the last few years, it's hard to imagine he'll be effective for much longer.

    (I hope I'm wrong)

The three titles are a nice starter set for a franchise.

You know how I know you don't actually watch baseball?
I thought one of you guys said titles didn't count if you weren't alive for the parade?

Thankfully my grandfather (born in 1919, the year after their last title) got to see it in 04. I watched that Billy Buckner shit happen with him as it was occurring, and it was pretty goddamn terrible.

  • Both teams have storied histories. However, you're rooting for laundry.

You're only as good as your last season, so until one of them wins a title they are both under-performing.

Now, let's just all agree that both ownership groups are the fucking worst......

I love the passion of Red Sox fans and although it happened at the expense of the Yankees it was good for all the fans to get a title. I dislike the Red Sox but I can appreciate the fans for supporting their team all those years.
