I don't remember it as an opener. I was just listening to Grand Rapids 2006 which I was at and thought shit...that would be a great opener for wrigley this year. God damn that would set a tone.
No. But this would be a nice surprise. Tough on Eddie's vocal chords though, but def. something unexpected (like Release in the endcore or whole albums) - we all want that. Those are the memorable moments.
This song works best well into the setlist, when Eddie is almost spent, and then he somehow musters up the energy to perform it...he has to battle through it.
Would be awesome (if Ed can pull the song off that is). I'd love this! Blood is one if the greatest songs of all time, and i really like a show to start off with a bang (really wish PJ would go back and forth with the opener. I don't love the fact that they always open with something slow. Sometimes is great. All the time is stale).

I don't think it would work great as an opener, but could be cool somewhere mid first set, since it's usually at the end. Would be a nice surprise!

I. Would. Love. This. So. Hard! It would be an amazing, lose your mind moment. If they ever want to give this a go, may I suggest Toronto 1 It would fuck with his voice for the rest of show though and that wouldn't be so great, but for 3 minutes it would be the greatest thing ever.
Anything you lose from being honest You never really had to begin with.
Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.
I would take Blood as an opener, closer, or at any point in the set. Saw them play it as the 4th song in at Albany 2003. It is a great way to get the energy level up early.

I love it when they just jump right in with a rocking song, but they do it so rarely. Champaign '03, came out and yelled "let's go" and went straight into DTE, so awesome.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Tremor Christ would be an amazing opener.

Agreed that an occasional fast opener would be cool. "Fastest" I've had was Unthought Known (faster than most! haha) in to Corduroy at Hartford 2010 and the crowd was really rocking the whole way through.
heard "Animal" in 95 and "Go" in 98. different vibe when they start it like this. unfortunately doesn't to be the the "plan" anymore... i will take whatever they want to throw at me.

I think my favorite opener is Corduroy though, especially with Interstellar Overdrive as the intro, but part of that might just be because that's how they opened my first show.
Would be soo down for this. Hell they played Do the Evolution 2nd after opening w/ Betterman in San Diego 03. I love when they open fast and hard, sets the pace.

I had the Go/Animal opening combo at the Leeds Festival in 2006. Great show!

Best opener. I've loved Release (x3), Long Road (x3), Sometimes (x2), Inside Job, Corduroy but when they opened with Go, Animal, Hail Hail at Leeds festival ('06) and at Manchester ('12), dear me it was like the best punch in the face.
I vote for Ed only singing songs that 50-year-old vocal chords can handle
...and even songs that suit where the band members are at in their lives/career. Blood is a great live tune - as is Leash - but I would understand it if they decided to retire it. They all just seem too happy to be performing songs that require such rage.
Just to clarify before I go: I really like Leash and Blood (and every other song off Vs.) but it'd be okay with me if they decided to not play them anymore because they felt they'd outgrown them.

Obviously the idea is for him to be able to sing it. So do you think Blood has to be retired forever? Which other songs need to be retired for this reason in your opinion? If the criteria is "are you worried Ed's voice might break on this song?", dozens of songs would have to be retired.
