Pearl Jam's 1000th Performance?

How did you account for this?BS44325 said:Red Mosqito said:Personally I agree with others in this thread that only concerts should be counted. I feel including TV or special appearances is inflating the statistics unnaturally.
Not everybody agrees. If you read the whole thread you will see that this has been discussed. Concerts can't be counted based on people's differing definitions but performances can. 1000th performance is Quebec City. Feel free to figure out for yourself what the 1000th concert is.Shaqdaddy said:Then this thread should be called "1000th Concert" not performance. To me performance would include things like SNL and talk shows where 1-2 songs are played.
So 1000 performances is different from 1000 concerts.
Here is 1 to think about (if already discussed sorry and just another example of how hard to pull this together) - since counting TV shows - 11/14/02 and 11/15/02 were Letterman shows and all these resources treat them as different shows - however they were both recorded on 11/14/02 - not sure how you can count 11/15/02.SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5
Mexico=1, Colombia=10 -
If you read back there is a post splitting concerts from performances. Again this is controversial because under this scenario MTV Unplugged wouldn't be called a concert and I will go to my grave saying that it was.ckravitz said:
What if we defined concerts as any performance where tickets were made available to the general public through a nationally recognized ticketing outlet (or equivalent during the TM boycott) or any bar/club shows during their "infancy"?BS44325 said:

That's 1 performance (as per two feet thick). I made the adjustment in my initial calculation.Indifference said:

I would also count it as a concert. They played a set. I would say anytime they've played a set (whether it being for unplugged, storytellers, austin city limits, or after a letterman show) that it's a concert. If they show up and record 1 or 2 songs for a TV taping I'd call that a performance. Ie most letterman tapings I would consider a performance, except for the one time they came back out and played a set. When you've played a set I think your at a concert (even if it's filmed for tv).BS44325 said:

I do like the distinction of concert vs. performance. I'm still convinced that the pre pearl jam being famous concert history can't be 100% correct. Surely there's a show or two out there that time forgot? I know someone said the archive is pretty good, but you'd have to think a few got missed.0 -
The early concert archives on TwoFeetThick.com are extremely detailed and was very helpful in determining the hard count of performances.Zod said:

No Ive read it. If I missed where someone mentioned the stats form the app then forgive me. Not sure what all is considered a "show" but since this is coming directly from the app I'd think it is the most accurate.BS44325 said:

I wasn't arguing they weren't detailed, I was arguing that before PJ got big (in their first year to year and a half of existence) they may have played really small shows that people forgot or no information could be found about them. There wouldn't of been a diehard following back then documenting everything they were doing. I can imagine at least a show or two was forgotten about from the era.BS44325 said:The early concert archives on TwoFeetThick.com are extremely detailed and was very helpful in determining the hard count of performances.

Why do people keep ignoring the fact that Eddie already stated that they did there 999th show back in the last Europe tour and he didn't even mention it in the next show about it being 1000th. I am willing to bet the band does not give a shit about this and neither should we.0

Nobody is ignoring this. It has been discussed and the number is verifiably wrong. They haven't reached 1000 yet no matter how you count it. Everyone also agrees that the band probably doesn't give a shit...this is just a fan curiosity.PJNB said:Why do people keep ignoring the fact that Eddie already stated that they did there 999th show back in the last Europe tour and he didn't even mention it in the next show about it being 1000th. Good article from Alternative Nation with mention of coming 1000th show in 5th paragraph
http://www.alternativenation.net/given-to-fly-25-years-of-pearl-jam/0 -
If we as a community can't agree or come to the definitive number of shows they've played what makes the author of that article a subject matter expert on it? More than likely he probably used this thread as his source for that paragraph.BS44325 said:Good article from Alternative Nation with mention of coming 1000th show in 5th paragraph
