Anyone else have any luck with priceline recently? I'm really hoping for Back Bay or Commons area in the 200-250/night range, but that seems unlikely for Aug 4-8.

Having looked for hotel rooms a bunch of times this year in Boston, I would say Boston is already more expensive than Manhattan! Geez. And San Francisco is the worst of all.

Just did a priceline bid and won. Boston Marriot Burlington 3.5 stars, 8.5 outa 10 guest reviews. free parking, not too close, half hour north but only $80 per night. gotta save a little for TOTD west coast run.
For $400 a night for dtown room, I'd take the 2 1/2 hour drive home.

Hey can anyone give me some quick guidance/suggestions on where to stay in Boston after the PJ craziness is over? Monday thru Weds (8-11th) Looking to spend around $100 to $200/night. I'd like to do the "touristy" stuff, take my time, don't necessarily have to stay close to downtown.
Just looking for a decent hotel to relax after getting rocked by the PJ shows. Maybe Priceline Express Deal for Brookline/Fenway/Newton?

If anyone's still looking, I held out (hoping for prices to drop) after countless failed priceline bids (name your own price), and finally won today. For a bid of $245/night in the downtown commons-theatre district, you can get the W hotel. Seems like a great hotel in a great location. I booked 4-8 Aug. Good luck to anyone still holding out.

We just checked into The Verb (we're going to the James Taylor concert too - hoping Eddie shows up for a duet on Close Your Eyes). This place is really cool! And Fenway is 20 yards from the window in our room!

Great place to stay for a show. My wife and I stayed there last year for Foo Fighters. I tried to get a room there for Friday night and they wanted $790!! lol. No thanks. To bad, great location and perfect theme for a concert.

so excited! i just booked a night there and can't wait. i just saw that it was in my price range (under $350), right next to the ballpark, and with good reviews. didn't even realize it was about rock and roll until afterwards. wish i could stay there longer but a) can't afford it and b) i'm gonna try and be good and go to work that monday.

$790??? Yikes!!! I booked as soon as the tour was announced on booking.com, and got a room that I could cancel in case I didn't win the lottery. So I got a relatively good rate. We took the stadium tour during sound check. We got yelled at for videotaping the sound check inside the stadium (no one had told us we couldn't before the tour started). But right now we're relaxing in our room with the window opened listening to Jackson Brown's sound check. He sounds really good, too!

I booked before I got tickets and ended up paying $280 for Friday night at the Hyatt Regency. Then, a couple months later I decided to add on Saturday night which was $320. Inflation happens faster than you think. But the HOB screening is free so it kinda makes up for it.

Staying at the Boston Marriot in Newton and I'm wondering if can use the commuter rail to get back from the show at night? is it safe?
    thanks!

Quick commuter question for Bostonians. The Charlie Card does NOT work for Commuter Rail, correct?

Therefore, if I'm going from Back Bay Station To Yawkey Station (Fenway), my best bet is to take the "Framingham/Worcester" Commuter Line that takes 6 minutes according to Google Maps (verses Orange to Green subway line or bus). I would need to purchase a Commuter Rail ticket at the station or MBTA mTicket app.

I think the rail and subway are the same price, $2.25 one way.

    Thanks!

If you buy MBTA commuter rail tix, use the app. Charlie card is for subway, costs you a buck and half the time if you tell an MBTA employee your card isn't working they'll just give you one to load.

Honestly if it's anywhere near rush hour and I'm at Back Bay on a beautiful day, I'm walking to Fenway, it's not that far - walk up Boylston to Ipswich.

    Good luck

Hit me with a fuckin' quarter again and, fuck it, I'm outta here. We're all outta here. Fuck you, and if anyone sees someone throw fuckin' change right next to them, you have my permission to beat the fuckin' holy shit outta them."

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm arriving at 1pm with wife, two backpacks and a small rolling carryon. I don't mind walking. For four days, I was on the fence about whether to use the subway/Charlie card (possibly unlimited 7 day) or Commuter rail plus prepaid Charlie card. Plan on visiting Faneuil Hall area, Fenway and the Hyatt Regency Cambridge.
