Like I stated before. Go into the desert, let Josh Homme produce it and jam the shit out of it. Come with something experimental; out of the comfort zone and box.

I have to admit this is a fucking fantastic idea.
I think this will create a sound that would be unknown territory of Pearl Jam - and their fanbase is solid enough to try this.

Agreed. And for me personally it doesn't hurt that Homme has been in one of my favorite bands ever (Kyuss) and two others that I love! (QOTSA and EODM)

This sounds amazing!!! What I am currently looking for...

Another vote for that idea! Yes!
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
i think the band just need to get in the studio for a couple weeks and bust out some songs and then release them. Can you believe they were able to release Vs, Vitalogy, Merkin Ball and No Code all within 3 years? 3 years now is the length of a tour behind just one album!
BoB is not the problem. I sort of liked Sleeping by Myself on LB. What I found a little troubling was that it was a song that had already been released. It just tells me that the band didnt have enough material. Same goes for Pendulum...a decent song that didnt make it onto Backspacer. In past, the song would have ended up on a b-side or on a rarities comp.
I genuinely see a lack of motivation by the band as a whole. I don't say that lightly, cuz I used to always consider PJ the one constant in my life that never let me down.
And I know family is important, but it kind of seems like a lousy cop out as far as making albums. In other words, you don't have to leave Seattle to make a record (I'm remembering the punch clock scene from Single Video Theory right now)
I'd like to hear something completely different from the band....perhaps an experiment into modern pop and/or dance. I feel like they could do some really awesome stuff within those genres. okay, let the skewering begin!
If they were to attempt anything radically different - like pop or dance - it would sound forced and fake. They aren't dance musicians and just because Ed was a Michael Jackson fan it doesn't mean they could make a pop record.
I'd be more than happy with a return to the Yield or Riot Act sound (hasn't Trump pissed Ed off enough yet?)
The Josh Homme/desert suggestion is a great one...
...as long as we get a Single Video Theory Volume 2 to document it!

I'd like to see a collaboration album with Justin Bieber, Katie Perry, and Mylie Cyrus....
Jk, I would actually like to see instrumentals written by Jeff, Stone, Mike and Matt then Eddie writes lyrics to the songs after they are done. At least a good number of songs written that way. I feel like the past ten years have been dominated by Ed's style.

Instrumental song would be good, spoken word would be good, some psychedelic song of 15 minutes. They can pull it all off. And I dont think its just Ed; its the band chemistry. Since they went independent its almost like they are afraid of loosing fans - which I can understand. Thats why they try to please everyone and you get these predictable albums. Even though I also dont think BOB is the problem, I dont mind to have a reset, go with Josh Homme or Jack White; get out of the safe environment and just jam. They can do it. And I think the outcome will be better than expected; but they have to dare to do it. There lies the issue.
Listening (again, lol) to the Led Zeppelin reissues, and they sound so damn good, I'll throw out the idea of trying to get Jimmy Page to produce the next album (since a change in producer seems to be a running theme in this thread, lol). That is, if they can pull him away from whatever it is he's apparently cooking up on the solo front, lol.
The production on these reissues is so good, nice and clean and crisp, they sound better than most of the albums I've heard in the last 20 years or so (yes, even better than Pearl Jam, to me, lol). To say nothing of the musicianship of the mighty Zep, lol.
