    Who made him Sith though?

    i dunno ... i just don't necessarily think it's that important ... he could be anybody ...
I don't know about that. I would much rather see the good guy be anybody and the bad guy be a reliable source of evil.
for sure he has to be a compelling and believable baddie but his origin doesn't necessarily need to be introduced prior to episode 8 ... we're gonna get all kinds of back story in 8 (rey, luke) - might as well get his as well ...
    True, very true.
I think if Vader had his own apprentice on the down low that would be cool.
That would have been Luke, no? Palpatine wanted to train him but Vader wanted to secretly so father and son could overthrow him and rule together.

Vader definitely could have been grooming someone else before Luke came along..... Or even after Luke came along......

It's always good to have a backup plan.

Yep. Palpatine wanted to get rid of Vader and take Luke as his new apprentice. Vader wanted to replace Palpatine himself and take Luke as his second in command so they could "rule the galaxy as father and son."

yeah, I guess that's possible. But isn't the basic idea that there is nobody out there who's strong enough with the force to make it happen... until Luke comes along?

"The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi."

yep, luke and anakin are the two most powerful. would be lame if they magically introduced someone who was more powerful than those two.

I'm still going with the theory that Snoke is Jar Jar.

too predictable. i am going with the storm trooper that hit his head on the door in a new hope. his revenge on the galaxy for almost 40 years of mockery.

I wonder if that is the route Lucas was going with but abandoned plans after the fallout from the 1st film?

It would be a solid, non-hokey way to go with it

it's not ... the rule of 2 in the star wars universe means there can only be one sith lord with an apprentice ... darth plagueis was darth sidious's master until he got betrayed ...

the theory is that darth plagueis weakened but survived ... and is now snoke ...

Ah, I see -- a nonexistent scene is pretty cool.

i'm just saying that seeing that scene in a movie that is likely to have a lot of backstory (episode 8) would be cool

I just read that the rule of 2 is self imposed, began a thousand years ago when the Sith lords all turned on each other... That means it surely can be broken.

Yeah, thinking Snoke is Plagueis. He's too powerful to just come out of nowhere. This is from earlier in this thread....

The music to the Snoke scene is the same as that scene in Ep3 where Palpatine has a talk to Anakin at the opera. I reckon he is Plageuis.

Just found out it's gonna be on Rifftrax and Bill, Kevin and Mike are recording commentary this week. Great movie but I'm looking forward to more jokes poking fun at George Lucas, Ford's latter day crap (Firewall) and Fisher's drug heavy personal past life again.

So I bought the blu ray today.
Rey doesn't know how she mind tricked that stormtrooper or how she flew the falcon. I reckon Luke has learned some new power at the jedi temple and is controlling her remotely.
Leia definintley knows who Rey is, the way she looks at her before they hug.
And that look on Han's face, he feels bad she has never seen so much green, he knows who she is.
I noticed a baby Finn photo on the screen when they check for his history after he abandons ship.
